America is essentially a dream, a dream as yet unfulfilled. It is a dream of a land where men of all races, of all nationalities and of all creeds can live together as brothers. -Martin Luther King Jr.

The United States is considered a melting pot which means every race is welcomed, like Martin Luther King Jr. this is a land filled with dreams where every race can live in peace and as one big happy family. Sure you are considered American if you were born in this country, but there has to be a more detailed explanation to what truly makes you an American. One thing that has always crossed my mind though is what really makes you an American. To be considered American, if you have that perseverance and strive to succeed, that American dream and the faith to pursue that dream of yours, and lastly you have to be proud to be an American and show that you take pride in living in the United States. Our founding fathers took pride in this country and that is how it has gotten where it has today because we Americans care and with the caring and perseverance to become a powerful country. Americans take pride in where we live and we are given opportunities that other countries may not receive. We are truly blessed to call ourselves Americans. We are one of the few countries that is considered a true melting pot with all of the different races, but it has come to the point where no one seems to care what race you are. All they seem to know is that you are an American and someone possessing the traits that I had just described deserves to be called an American as well even if they have come from a different country. All that seems to matter though is that they wanted to experience the American Dream and that they are brave enough to drop everything and come to a foreign country they may know nothing about, but are looking for a new beginning well they have come to the right place and I would consider them just as much American as I would
