Families are always there for one another. In Night Elie Wiesel tells about his time at a concentration camp during the Holocaust. During these tough times, family helps the prisoners stay strong. In the book, Wiesel shows being around family makes one stronger through Stien, Meir Katz, and his dad. Meir Katz shows strength after talking to Elie. Elie talks to Meir Katz about that now his son is in a better place now and he is no longer in pain. Meir Katz gets strength because he doesn’t have to worry about his son being in pain he can just worry about himself. This is how Meir Katz was helped by Elie. A few days later Elie gave hope to someone else about their family. Elie gave strength to another prison named Stein. When Elie threatens to kill himself the presence of his dad stopped him from going through with it. “Father, I said. If that is true, then I don’t want to wait. I’ll run into the electrified barbed wire. That would be easier than a slow death in the flames… We continued our march. We were coming closer and closer to the pit, from which an infernal heat was rising. Twenty more steps… I squeezed my father’s hand.” (pg 30-31) Elie squeezing his dad’s hand stops him from wanting to end everything. That is how Elie gets strength from family in a tough situation.
