Step 2: Critical thinking and Environmental Sociology (the class I am picking for this assignment is Microbiology, which I took last semester, in class.)
Step 4: Idea #8- Become a questioner. I find that engaging myself in class and the lectures help me to become more aware of the information that I am learning. Furthermore, I like to ask questions about things I do not know or understand. Being a questioner really helped me during Microbiology because there was a bunch of information that made me confused. For example, when we were doing lab experiments and we had to do specific tests. I had to ask numerous questions to make sure that I understood what I needed to do and what the expected outcomes could possibly be.
Idea# 9- Relate content to situations in your life. Therefore, for me to have a better grasp on Micro, I needed to relate the content to my life. Also, we could pick our own projects for this class which also made it easier to relate the content to my life. When you relate and apply the content, you retain and learn the information better than if you just try to memorize it. I find this helpful in all classes that I take. Not all teachers teach in the same way, therefore, I need to figure out my studying skills for every teacher I have. In Micro class, I figured out that I needed to pay attention to the material that was covered in the lab, and the class assignments. When I was studying I focused on these two parts of class the most. Of course, I would still reread the PowerPoints and all my class notes.
