What does it mean to be original? To be original you have to have the ability to act, think or create a product or though that is independent from all others. Being original means being truly innovative in a creative manner that is distinctive from anything else. The question is in the year 2015 is it even possible to obtain any of those characteristics of being original, the answer is no. In design as students or as designers working from clients we cannot claim to be original. Any ideas we form stems from outside or inside influences that have affected us in some way. Our ideas may be original to us but are paraphrased from something else’s experiences or creations. A designer’s job is to take ideas and inspiration gathered and style

Nothing is original these days, we live in a postmodern society that is continuously reusing, revising or reproducing existing ideas, thoughts concepts and images. Originality implies a lack of outside influence but we are humans and as such we cannot avoid interacting with each other and we cannot avoid the visual and auditory stimuli that we encounter in our daily lives. With that in mind the notion of originality becomes a paradox in itself. All claims of innovation and individuality during the design process are misguided because artists are always consciously or unconsciously deconstructing and reconstructing existing elements into new configurations.
Gardner describes the creative individual as follows: “The creative individual is a person who regularly solves problems, fashions products, or defines new questions in a domain in a way that is initially considered novel but that ultimately becomes accepted in a particular cultural setting” (Gardner, 1993, p. 35). The development of design in the trend of globalization is urging designer performing their works in the more standard and professional processes, but the variety of inspirations in the design world still playing their crucial roles. The globalization of design has created a more complicated situation for both domestic and international designer. The application of international design thinking also could help designer to trim their design method and design thinking to approach the more intricate market, to conquer the gaps of different cognizes that effected by different cultures or even the human nature.

A designer must be able to make his or her work visually appealing so that consumers are more likely to consider making purchases. A designer must be able to understand what a consumer wants to be able to capture his or her desires. One must listen to the needs of his or her clients and be able to interpret that information into an original and unique design. Prospective designers must be flexible and must work quickly while paying attention to the details within their designs. A designer may have several projects at once and must be able to work diligently on these projects as to finish them in a timely manner, so as not to disappoint the customer. Despite seeming like a glamorous and easy career, majority of the time designers work long hours to make ends meet with their projects (Romano 64). A designer has to consider several thousands of different images and fonts to put into his or her work to make it more visually appealing to the customer. Designers consider the fonts, images, colors, and layouts to make sure that none of the items clash in a bad way. One must do all of this while also making sure not to intrude on any copyright laws. Design thinking is a process for practical, creative resolution of problems or issues that looks for an improved future result. It is the essential ability to combine empathy, creativity and rationality to meet user needs and drive business success. Unlike analytical thinking, design thinking is a creative process based around the building up of ideas. There are no judgments early on the design thinking (Simon, 1969, p. 55). Design thinking includes imagination and reason, a combination of convergent and divergent thought, and creativity. Design thinking might be thought of as dialectic, or conversation. It involves design wisdom, judgment, and knowledge. Lastly, design thinking is skill (Hegeman, 2008).
During my whole life and experience I have been interested in the Art, Creativity, and I have been traveling around Graphics Designing. When I go out to centres, supermarkets, the high streets around Kingston anywhere in London, Germany and other parts of Europe which I have seen. I have seen lots of Graphics designs in advertising, Billboards companies for example in electronical products or any type of product the graphics advertising companies running around the world, just because of that I was inspired in the graphics designing and I was influence by the subject.
In design thinking, designers do not make any early judgments about the quality of ideas. As a result, this minimizes the fear of failure and maximizes input and participation in the ideation (brainstorming) and prototype phases. In the art community there is a lot of controversy in distinguishing what the difference between an artist and a designer. Designers are told they are not artist and they need to stop thinking they are artist. When dealing with art and design specific demographics and viewers interpret the messages of each subject in different ways. Art is said to be elucidated and design is said to be understood. Artists usually develop a work of art with the intention of bringing an emotion viewpoint, instinctive feeling, and or state of mind. When you look at an artist work it cannot be limited to just exhibiting one individual thought or just one individual meaning. That is a big difference when it comes to graphic design. Graphic design usually has a very specific goal and point to make. When dealing with graphic design there should not be any room or space for any mixed messages or multiple meanings. The audience of the design should immediately understand the design that the designer created. Art connects to people differently in so many ways. The only reason it connects to people in different ways is only because it is interpreted differently.
According to Marion, “There are a lot of competencies that go into realizing an innovation. Creativity is different because creativity is a mechanism to being innovative. You can have great ideas, but not be innovative.”
