What Does Grit Mean

Grit has very different meanings to it. I have learned that grit is somewhat of a challenge that comes with toughness. The definition of grit is “Courage and resolve; strength of character.” Whether they fall down, the challenge is would they get back up and have that determination to keep going towards there mark. To some it means one thing, and to others it means another thing. To me grit means when someone has that drive to do something and does not give up when they fail the first time but keeps going. Everyone is not gritty and no one is born with grit. Some people are not gritty because they think if they fail that is the end of everything. Persistence mean “firm or obstinate continuance in a course of action in spite of difficulty or opposition”, and grit in my own words means “having that drive to keep going even after they fail.” They mean almost the same thing when it comes to having to keep pushing yourself to get to where you are going or to overcome something, but grit has more meaning to it when it comes to a challenge. It is also kind of hard to say because both have some what the same meaning if you look at it. For example, in my own words persistence is when you have the endurance to keep going even through hard times, and grit on the other hand means when you fail something you must have the courage to get back up and keep going. So, I agree with Mr. Andrew Zolli about resilience but I also think that it has a small amount of grit in it as well. Also under the fourth characteristics about Resilience Mr. Zolli says on his third tenant that “the belief that positive and negative experiences will lead to learning and growth.” I agree with that as well because if there is a positive experience they will learn from it and know more, and also if there is a negative experience they will still learn from it but improve the next
