History Ten years ago, smartphones and tablets didn’t exist. Most business communications were conducted face to face or in ways that today seem tedious. The access to business information and applications through mobile devices has grown exponentially. There is no sign that this emerging technology will stop. Apple’s iPhone and iPad running IOS are leading the mobile business market due to the flexibility and ease-of-use. (Kim, 2010) Milestones in Communication Roos (2011) stated the following information about the major milestones in mobile technology and communication: In 1946, AT&T launched its first commercial mobile telephone service. In 1947, the company used a mobile phone system from United Airline jets and a moving train to ground stations. Throughout the 1950’s, the invention of the circuit contributed significantly to make mobile phones truly portable. In the mid-1960’s, CB radios became popular among truck drivers and in 1970’s it had become popular with the general public. In 1973, Motorola released a 28-ounce portable telephone. Motorola invested 15 years of research and $100 million to develop an even smaller product. Only high paid professionals could afford this type of luxury. It took 10 years for the Federal Communications Commission to approve the mobile telephone. Motorola introduced in formally in 1983. The initial model weighed almost two pounds and costs near $4000.
