Unjust Justice

Justice is in fact the most important system of our government. To some people justice is the punishment someone receives after being convicted of a crime; other people could think it means the difference between knowing right from wrong. In my opinion, along with dictionary.com, justice is best defined as the fair and equal treatment of people. This is not just used in the court of law however; my definition should be used in every aspect of human life, from work to school and beyond. But, for that to happen, I believe "fair and equal treatment" needs to be defined, and that means to treat people of any skin color, gender, age, sexual preference, or any other personal trait the same way.

So if justice in considered to be fair, that would make something unjust, unfair, right? What if an innocent person was proven guilty in a court of law and spent time in jail or money to pay a fine? That would be considered just, because in the court of law he was in fact proven guilty, however it would also be unfair because the person is innocent. This is the same result in another case, the most current issue and most relative in my belief would be Affirmative Action. If justice is in fact fair, therefore not treating persons of different races or gender any different then Affirmative Action is unjust, and although I do not oppose such a policy, I still see it as unjust.

Affirmative Action was created by the United States government to overcome the effects of past social discrimination by assigning jobs and resources to members of specific groups, such as minorities and women.¹ Now first things first, minority must be defined, a minority is not just the stereotypical African-American or Latino, it is actually a group ...

... reality if justice is supposed to be something that better's human life, then Globalism being considered just is yet another contradiction to justices own meaning. Maximizing profits is fair to those who are protected and making money off the deal, but laying off thousands of hard-working loyal employees to go across an ocean and under pay and overcrowd cheaper workers is not something that betters human life.

These are just three contradictions of the word justice and there is probably more. In each of these instances justice has been mutated and manipulated into becoming the total opposite of itself. Like everything else Justice cannot be perfect, but unlike an opinion Justice can be either right or wrong. Ethics and morals of an individual heavily sway issues as being just or unjust, but there is always a right or wrong, it's just sometimes not fair.
