Describe the role of scientists in the organisations. NHS Scientists working with NHS use their knowledge of science to diagnose diseases and provide the correct treatment for their patients. They use microscopes, computers and other hi-tech laboratory equipment to carry out a range of laboratory and scientific tests to investigate various medical conditions such as blood disorders, diabetes, cancer, hepatitis and AIDs etc. They also monitor the effects of the treatment while the patient is undergoing medical or any other treatment for whatever disease they have been diagnosed with. They modify foods to make them fat-free and to make ready meals. They also work with newly discovered ingredients as well as existing ingredients to make new recipes. They supply prescribed medication to the general public, they make sure they do it safely by checking dosages and making sure medicines are correctly labelled.
