Both Uncle Marcos from “Uncle Marcos” by Isabel Allende and Walter Mitty from “The secret life of Walter Mitty” by James Thurber can learn a lot from each other. Throughout the course of both stories Walter and Marcos are described very thoroughly by the authors. They have very contrasting traits and could learn from one and other. “The appointed day dawned full of clouds, but so many people had turned out that Marcos did not want to disappoint them” (Allende 136-137).
