Dracula was based on the idea of vampirism, xenophobia, and sexual tensions. This book related me to the movies of Twilight. Although I never read the Twilight books, whenever vampirism comes to mind I think of Twilight. There are many reasons for this and one is that Edward in Twilight was turned into a vampire much like what Dracula is doing in the book. When relating Twilight and Dracula the things that come to mind are contemporary issues along with values. They both have deep involvement with cultural anxieties when it comes to the idea of human identity along with the process of change and the stability of cultural formation. Also, vampires were shown to be much more vicious in the 19th century. However, these books are still more similar than one might think. They both use Gothic characters including werewolves, vampires, Byronic heroes, maidens, etc. When considering a maiden one would believe that Bella in Twilight as her blood, personality, and every trait of her is that of fragility and purity fits the role. In fact, Twilight does use more gothic characters than Dracula used. As for location, Dracula and Twilight are both in areas that are remote. Dracula took place in Transylvania which is a place that is actually a nightmare and only heard of by people.
