Vulnerable population is defined as a group of people that have a disadvantage in society like the homeless and disabled. The vulnerability of these groups are shown through age, sex, race, and other factors but those being the main factors. It may also include people that don’t have a way to access health care service. To access health care includes a lot to do with poverty and the lack of education. Education is very important because patients need to be educated about signs and symptoms of infectious disease. It is important to know about infectious diseases because patients might need report any signs or symptoms to a doctor. According to the Common Infectious Diseases Worldwide, Tuberculosis, Malaria, and AIDS are approximately half of all deaths caused by infectious diseases each year. Tuberculosis is becoming this global threat for the world and that has a lot to do with the social inequality it has on some people. Dr. Robert Koch announced the discovery of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the bacteria that cause tuberculosis on March 24, 1882. It is scary to look at all the celebrities that had money and were not in a vulnerable place compared to all the other people that have died from tuberculous. Eleanor Roosevelt, Andrew Jackson, all the way to Franz Kafka, these people were in a situation that they could fight for there infectious disease compared to other people that only have a disadvantage like the homeless. There is a lot that come with having tuberculosis and it can get expensive at times. As the American Lung Association stated “You must finish your medicine and take the drugs exactly as prescribed. If you stop taking the drugs too soon you can become sick again and potentially spread the disease to others around you. If you do not take the drugs correctly, the TB germs that are still alive can become resistant to the drugs.” (Living With Tuberculosis 1) Some individuals that don’t have that advantage are going to die. If TB it’s left untreated it will eat rapidly through many tissues, usually beginning with the lungs, lymph nodes, and kidneys. As the infection spreads to the lungs, it causes a cough and fluid between the chest wall and lungs, which leads to chest pains, severe shortness of breath, and potential heart failure. TB also infects bones and joints that can produce arthritis like pain and characteristic bone damage. Another possibility is that it may affect the fluid around the brain, causing meningitis, which can lead to fever, drowsiness, and eventually coma and death (Wingerson, 2009).
Tuberculosis is a bacteria infection that affects many people over the world. Treatment for the disease helps people but it is limited. Vaccination is sought but, like treatment, is limited. Because of these limitations Tuberculosis spreads and kills easily. Tuberculosis can be cured by constant drug therapy.
My hypothesis on Tuberculosis is that it is a very deadly disease that causes a persons lungs to fill with blood. This can harm the body by making the body suffocate itself when the lungs fill with blood.
Education can be a powerful weapon in fighting tuberculosis in the United States also around the world. Today, it is encouraging how so many people know how TB contracts human and what cause drug resistant effects among those who are under TB treatment.

A combination of factors including high costs, limited resources and the poor performance of various diagnostic tests make the diagnosis of TB difficult in developing countries. In 2012, nearly nine million people around the world become sick with tuberculosis disease, and there were around one point three million TB related deaths worldwide.

For example, HIV patients, malnourished individual are more susceptible to tuberculosis compared to the average healthy individual. People that are constantly in close range to infected individual are at higher risk of getting infected because, they are more likely to share and breathe the same air. Many years later a disease that was called “ scrofula” was described to be a certain form of tuberculosis. It was referred to as “king’s evil” in England and France, and they believed it could be cured by a royal touch. This practice was put to an end in the year 1714.

Tuberculosis can present in one of two types: active tuberculosis and latent tuberculosis. Prompt treatment prevents latent tuberculosis from evolving into active tuberculosis. Nearly 50,000 people, including 30,000 children, die each day due to poverty-related problems and preventable disease in underdeveloped Countries. That doesn’t include the other millions of people who are infected with AIDS and other incurable diseases. Especially those living in Sub-Saharan Africa (70%), or “the Third-World,” and while we fight to finish our homework, children in Africa fight to survive without food, or clean water. During the next few paragraphs I will give proof that poverty and disease are the two greatest challenges facing under developed countries.
