Close to the Equator
What is a rainforest? A rainforest is a dense forest rich in biodiversity, found close to the equator in tropical areas, and can have up to an inch of rain a day. Rainforest are found in countries you might not believe like Africa, Asia, Australia, and Central and South America. Rainforest are found between the Tropic of cancer and The Tropic of Capricorn. Biodiversity in rainforest is extremely high and rich. Biodiversity is the name for all living things—like plants, animals and fungi—found in an ecosystem. I have always wanted to travel to a Rainforest. I love the warm, humid weather that pairs perfectly with awesome waves. Rainforests are beautiful, tropical environments, filled with interesting weather, strange

The warm and humid weather actually creates a lot of bacteria. Just walking through the Amazon could leave your body covered in bacteria, which for the most part won’t harm you. One interesting animal that lives among the trees, is the elephant. This isn’t your typical elephant we all know and love. This species of elephant is called a forest elephant and is about five feet short than your typical elephant. Forest elephants have adapted to living in dense forests, their tusks are straight since curved ones might get caught in the underbrush and vines of the forest (Hyde Pg1). One of the most endangered animals in the world called the Golden Lion Tamarin also lives in the Rainforest. The Tamarin is known for its luxurious fur which can be sold for as much as 20,000 dollars on the black market. When wandering through the jungles of Brazil, one might be able to witness its beauty, but their breed is slowly dying out. The Linne’s sloth also lives among the rainforest. The sloth is one my favorite animals because of how and gently and cute they are. They may look harmless and friendly, but when threatened they can fight back as they have long, sharp nails that can cause serious damage. When a sloth is fully grown they can weigh around nineteen pounds and expect to be about twenty-eight inches. The sloth is a prey animal as they are omnivores, but they are not …show more content…
I love to surf and have been enjoying surfing since I was seven years old. I have traveled all up the coast, surfing from south to north, but rainforest climates create some of the biggest and best waves ever. First surf spot up is Bali. Bali is an island located in Indonesia. Bali is great because you can surf all year and the waves are friendly and calm, but give one enough push to have the ride of his or her life. Bali is huge for surfing in the rain. It can be pouring rain, but the humidity and warm weather wont stopping people from catching some tasty waves. For people who like big waves, one can take a journey to Fiji and face “cloudbreak”. People from all over the world travel to take on forty and fifty foot waves at cloudbreak. Cloudbreak is a reef break, which means coral reef lays below the water. Coral reef is razor sharp and one bad fall can cut your whole body up while a monster wave is holding one down for two or three minutes sometimes. Cloud break is a famous surf spot that only experience surfers should paddle out for, sometimes even professionals don’t make it out alive. Last but not least is Jeffrey’s Bay, South Africa. This surf spot is known for fast waves that are barreling. A wave that is “barreling” means that a surfer will be able to ride while the wave is covering him. Getting barreled in surfing is what people live for and Jeffrey’s Bay is the place to be. Jeffrey’s Bay produces such good waves
Rainforest can be very moist, hot, and humid due to all of the rainfall. The average rainfall is
Geographical location- basically, tropical rainforest is roughly taking place within the latitude 28 degrees north or south of the equator, concentrated in South America at the same time, scattered in Africa and south Asia. The Peninsula de osa in Costa Rica , which is located in the middle America, bordering both the Caribbean Sea and the North Pacific Ocean, between Nicaragua and Panama. It is a country with tropical climate in four seasons; it is usually hot and humid, which nurture beautiful
People have been trying to find out what role does the Amazon rainforest plays. Also there are many shifts of climate in the Amazon rainforest. Each year 28 million acres of land is burned, and cutted down causing deforestation. Killing many living species in that process. If this continues, then very many plants, and animals are going instinct in areas.
The deciduous forest is one of the three major biomes in Wisconsin. The Deciduous forest, also named the temperate deciduous forest, is jam packed with many different types of diverse plants and animals. These biotic factors are adapted to flourish and survive in the temperature changes of the biome. In the Deciduous, the temperatures can drop down to around 40℉ and get as high as 82℉. This climate also includes 30-40 inches of rainfall per year. A biome is a large area that is identified by the particular plants and animals that occupy that land. The deciduous biome is found in a large portion of western and southern Wisconsin. The deciduous goes as far north as Adams county and stretches to the west to the Polk county area.
Greetings, fellow readers. I am Cora, a cougar. To whoever has found this paper, you are in for a treat. The contents of this paper will describe the ecosystem in which I reside, the deciduous forest. While reading this paper, you will learn about the wonderful weather that we receive, the beautiful exotic animals that reside her along with me, and the food web.
The biodiversity of this particular biome is vast and rapidly growing. One of the main reasons that there are so many species and animals living within this biome is due to the constant warm weather. It also supplies an almost 100% chance of water and food for the animals within. Small animals, including monkeys, birds, snakes, rodents, frogs and lizards are most common in tropical rainforests. Most of these animals and some insects rema...
There are many rainforests in the world but one of the biggest one is the Amazon rainforest, which is located in the northern half of South America and lies in the countries of Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Venezuela, Ecuador, and Bolivia. The Amazon also lies in between the Tropic of Capricorn and the Tropic of Cancer. The size of the Amazon resembles the size of the United States from the Atlantic Ocean to the Rocky Mountains. Since this rain forest lies next to the Equator, the climate is warm and humid. The average temperature is in between sixty-eight to ninety- three degrees. The Amazon has two seasons but each one is six months each. They are classified as the wet season and the dry season. The wet season occurs between December to May and the dry season occurs between June to November. The average rainfall is fifty to two hundred and sixty inches per year. The forest floor only gets up to two to five percent of sunlight since the canopy blocks the sunlight from getting to the forest floor. The Amazon rain forest got the nickname, the world’s pharmacy, because many medicines have been found in the tree bark, the tree’s leaves, and other parts of the trees.
A tropical rainforest is an ecosystem type which occurs roughly within the latitudes 28 degrees north and south of the equator. The forests are dominated by tall, closely spread trees, with a predominately continuous canopy. This ecosystem experiences high average temperatures and a significant amount of rainfall during the year.
Amazon: This is one of the most famous tropical rainforest in the world. Currently, it is the largest tropical rainforest in the world. The forest covers the basin of amazon, the world’s second longest river. The Amazon is home to many animals and even some of the plants greats. This rainforest has a great variety of plants and animals. 1/5 of the world’s plants and 1/10 of all mammal species are found there.
Rainforests are home to a large number of the world's plant and animals species, including many endangered species. As forests are cut down, many species are doomed to extinction. Some rainforest species can only survive in their natural habitat. Zoos cannot save all animals.
Simply speaking, rainforests are basically the foundation of the earth. The most important role that rainforests play is ‘the lungs of the earth’. This is extremely vital to the earth’s survival as the trees and plants absorb carbon dioxide which they use to help grow and let out oxygen which we need to live. This system is known as the carbon-oxygen cycle and with numbers of rainforests declining, it is highly threatened. The largest rainforest in the world, the Amazon, alone is known to produce half of the world’s oxygen. A break down in the carbon-oxygen cycle means that we will not only have less oxygen, but an increase in carbon dioxide which eventually leads to global warming. This occurs as carbon dioxide traps heat which actually keeps the earth warm, with the right amount of carbon dioxide that is. This is called the greenhouse effect and occurs naturally however due to decreasing number of trees, there is more carbon dioxide than needed which traps extra heat making the earth hotter than needed, this is known as global warming which also causes a rise in sea level.
What is a tropical rain forest? A tropical rainforest is an ecosystem that is anywhere near the equator. These areas are located between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn. A tropical rainforests experience high average temperatures and high amounts of rain fall. Tropical rainforests are divided into three parts. The uppermost part is the canopy. This is the layer with the tallest tress. Trees in this climate can reach up to 240 feet (blueplanetbiomes.com). The next layer is the lower canopy. This layer is made up of the smaller tress. The last layer is the forest floor. This is made up of all the plants and bushes. You can find tropical rainforests in many parts of the world like Asia, Australia, Africa, South America, Central America, Mexico and also on the Pacific, Caribbean, and Indian Ocean islands.
Tropical rainforest can be found near the the equator, the average rainfail is over 110 inches per year and consistently in warm temperature at about 25°C to 27C° and vary little from month to month (Molles, 2005). This warm temperature creates suitable condition for plant growth and variety of animal species to live there. The condition of rainforest made it can harboured higher diversity of organism than any other terrestrial biome. Even it only cover over two percent of earth surface but at least half of plant and animal species has be recorded from all over the world in tropical rainforest (Corlett and Primack, 2008).
This report will discuss the effects of deforestation in the Amazon Rainforest on the people and Environment and suggest possible solutions for deforestation. The Amazon Rainforest located near Brazil is being cut down at a rate of roughly 10,000km every year according to Source 1. Deforestation is affecting the entire planet.
Tropical rainforests are found in eighty-five countries around the world. “Ninety percent of these forests are concentrated into fifteen countries, each country containing over ten million hectares each.” (Malaysian Timber Council, 1995) Tropical rainforests are located around the equator, where temperatures stay above eighty degrees Fahrenheit year round. These forests are very dense and damp. “Although tropical rainforests cover just seven percent of the Earth’s surface, they can provide habitat for between fifty to ninety percent of its plant and animal species. In 1990, tropical rainforests totaled some 1.7 billio...
