World war 1 started in July of 1914, there was lots of deaths. Some may say that it was the most pointless war. The majority of the fighting was trench warfare. Trench warfare is type of fighting in which troops fight from trenches facing each other. The reasons the war was caused is nationalism, militarism, and alliances. Nationalism is showing pride for your country. Nationalism caused the war because it gave the people confidence in their nation, governments and military strength. The people that believed that their country wasn't in the wrong. An example of nationalism is when the Lusitania was sunk by the Germans. When the Lusitania was sunk it had 128 US citizens on it.
