Transformational Leadership Theory Motivates Individuals
The definition of transformational leadership is the style of leadership in which the leader identifies the needed change, creates a vision to guide the change through inspiration, and executes the change with the commitment of the members of the group(business dictionary.com). Northouse (as cited in Hall, Johnson, Wysocki, & Kepner, 2002) stated in simplistic terms, transformational leadership is a process that changes, motivates, and transforms individuals. In essence this form of leadership transforms the employee’s values and behaviors, thereby increasing production. In the case of JLB Enterprises, decreased employee morale was linked to a significant decrease in efficiency and production. If management began successfully utilizing elements of transformational leadership theory morale, motivation, and production efficiency would likely occur.
