Total Drama Island is a spoof off of CBSs hit show survivor. It has a more dramatic aspect of everything in the show such as the host, competions, contestenants and elimination night. The cartoon uses stereotypical teenagers to make fun of all of the drama that happens on every season of the show. Tom McGills and Jennifer Pertsch created a show called Total Drama Island, a parody of the hit series Survivor, in order to add more humor and make fun of their clichés.

The cartoon created a place called Playa Des Losers, where once the contestants have been eliminated they go there and party. It is the complete opposite of the enviorment that they just came from. On Playa Des Losers they deffientely do not feel like losers because they are living in luxuiary. This is very similar to what Survivor has called Ponderosa, which is an incredibly nice house or resort with a spa and unlimited drinks and food. Those who make it to the jury get to go enjoy life off the show there, and live life with their former allies as well as enimies. Even though they are off the show there is still the occasinal drama that they bring there from the backstabs and blindsides they felt from the competetion. It is hilarious to watch the people on both Ponderosa and Playa Des Losers as they kick back, relax and watch the rest of the drama unfold amongst their friends still in the …show more content…
Total drama island always creates their charecters to be the common stereotypes such as a punk rock guy, a strong cocky guy, a dumb blond, a nerdy girl, a cowboy, a cheerleader and a gross guy that is into things like farts. This is very similar to the basic cast of Survior, two seasons, they have even had the teams be brawns, vs. brains vs. beauty. Then both shows break them up into teams, purposely putting the personalities together to create certain situations, which makes for a whole lot of drama when they form alliances and the teams get switched around. Total Drama loves to show this aspect through characters such as Alejandro in World Tour where he would constantly make short term alliances just to backstab them so he was able to advance in the game. Of course, being stranded on an island together relationships are bound to occur. Total Drama makes fun of these cliché’s with one couple Emma and Noah, where Emma is constantly saying that she doesn’t want a relationship because she wants to focus on the game. Of course they end up together and show their happily ever after in the finale episode, just like Rob Mariano and Amber Brkich-Mariano who got engaged on the season

Simon’s death brings darkness and evil to the island because the characters lose track of what is right and wrong as they become focused on hunting and killing so they can gain complete power of the island. In conclusion, Simon’s lifetime on the island has taught the boys that a humane nature is important when trying to deal with others. His personality and relations with the other characters lead them to be strong for a great amount of time before it starts to die off and they lose their innocence with all the evil nature on the island. As the plot develops, everyone becomes savages and forget who they originally were and how to act like they did when there were parents around. A majority of the problem could have come to an end if all the characters could support each other and have a state of mind of what was going on around them.

The story of Shutter Island revolves around Marshall Teddy Daniels, and his partner Chuck Aule, and their journey to a remote and barren island to investigate the mysterious disappearance of an inmate from the mental asylum. The island is home to a fortress-like mental institution, Ashcliffe Hospital, which houses 66 of the most dangerous criminals in the country. From the very beginning, Martin Scorsese introduces the viewers to the theme of isolation. In the opening scene, Scorsese uses the boat ride as a sign that illustrates how the island is being distanced from reality. The viewers are never introduced on unfiltered view of "the real world" outside of the asylum. The only available information about reality beyond t...

"The Most Dangerous Island" is a story of two hunters, both of very different backgrounds, whose common interests' and unexpected fate would bring the couple together. We see that even celebrities are like this, so it becomes socially acceptable to be selfish or sociopathic. This is because “[reality shows] tell us that existence is to be centered on the practices and desires of the self rather than the common good” (Hedges, 32). The goal of a reality show is to acquire the sought after fame and wealth. Regardless of the method used to get to the end goal, people will do whatever it takes to reach it. This is why reality shows immensely influence the social relations we make in life. Seeing people on television doing these unnecessary and malevolent actions, it urges us to do the same; as if doing so, will help us reach our own end goal. And this is precisely what happens in the reality show “Survivor,” as Tina, Mad Dog Maralyn’s best friend, casts her vote to eliminate her, despite their friendship. It didn’t matter how strong their friendship was, when it came to winning, Tina paid no heed to Mad Dog. She states after her vote, that “it [had] nothing to do with [Mad Dog]. This vote has everything to do with a promise I made. I love you" (Hedges, 32). This sort of backstabbing betrayal is only further intensified by the magnitude of competition. Tina clearly could not prioritize her friendship with Mad Dog in a setting in which winning meant everything. She was blinded by the temptations of greed and the desire to be a celebrity. Another way to put it, is that “human beings [have] become a commodity in [the] celebrity culture… They are objects, like consumer products” (Hedges, 29). As a society, individualism has been cruelly thrown out for the pristine image celebrities are presented to us by the media. No longer do we value the unique individuals, we all want to become celebrities; manufactured to the point where we do not have an identity of our own. Celebrity images are essentially reflections of
A drastic change from the average dating show. According to MTV.com, the program’s description reads, “If your perfect match was standing right in front of you, would you even know it? MTV selected 10 gorgeous single women and 10 hot single guys and put them through an extensive matchmaking process to find their perfect match.” The premise of this show keeps the main objective of helping singles find true love, but it is done so with a creative twist. Before the contestants are even sent to the location of the game show, or even met anyone who will share the experience with them, their “perfect match” has already been discovered through a dating website style algorithm. It is then there goal to discover who their perfect match is out of the ten possible matches. This is done by competing in weekly challenges and interacting with each other. At the end of every episode they all pair up and are told how many correct matches have been made, but the catch is that the contestants do not know which couples are a match. If by the end of the designated time all ten matches have been found, not only do they find love, but they split a cash prize. In the article “Why Do We Tune In To Reality TV?” the author discusses the multiple reasons as to why reality television is so popular and explains that, “Some were drawn to shows like Temptation Island because they found the singles "so beautiful" and "like people they
Overcoming adversity is imperative. In fact, you can 't have the happiness and success you want unless you have adversity in your life and overcome it. It is essential for progressing into who you want to be. It shows you what you are made of. It teaches you more about yourself, how to approach what you want, and how to maintain the success that you have. Without it, you wouldn 't know how far you could go or how capable you are because you wouldn 't have anything to push you or compare to.
The Island is indeed an actor's play, for acting is its central metaphor and idea: acting as a means for the acting out of one's life, acting as a form of survival, and acting as a basis for (political) action.
