To what extend does ‘The American scholar’ reflect the values of the Declaration of Independence and the American Constitution? Ralph Waldo Emerson is a transcendentalist and his idea of transcendentalism was mostly reflected in a small book called nature which was published in 1836 representing his knowledge in philosophy, religion and literature. He visits the American Scholars and gives them the speech about the declaration of American Independence and the American constitution where he tells America was under British. America got independence on 4th July 1776. During those time British was the biggest industrial country in the planet but there was no improvement in the living standard because rich people were always lived a comfortable life where as the poor were living in the poverty.
