Racism in my eyes is defined by prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior. Racism is portrayed very much similar in to Kill a mocking bird and A time to kill.

Even though the times were very different from to kill a mocking bird and a time to kill they were very much similar in the sense of how they treated black - African American people. They treated them like they were second class citizen and they lived on the outskirts of town in almost like a second community away from all the white people. An example of how they portrayed racism is that in to kill a mocking bird they have a certain part of the book where Addicus was in the courtroom that only the black people they do not have that in a time to kill I believe but they do wait outside the court house. The differences I saw in to kill a mocking bird and a time to kill is that there are a couple of higher class black people that are business men and the most significant the head police officer. The head police officer acts as a symbol of hope for black people to get a good job and earn a god wage I believe he plays a bigger role in the movie then he is credited for. …show more content…

This is shown in full effect when they pick the jury both lawyers are trying to pick people that give them an advantage in court for defendant it was wives with children and people with a lot wealthier people that have better standards while the other man was looking for rednecks and people that hate black people this will help him to persuade the jury to the other
