Racism and Genocide Racism, where could I start? Racism according to the dictionaries is the belief that each race has characteristics or abilities specific of that race, distinctly as to differentiate it as inferior or superior to another race or races. In reality racism is so much deeper than that. Racism can take form in practices, beliefs, social actions, or political systems that examines different races to be ranked higher or lower in status. Now do we include discrimination that is involuntary? For example making assumptions about preferments of abilities of others based on racial stereotypes, or to include institutionalized forms of discrimination. In Sociology studies sociologist believe that discrimination will be around forever. By no means will racism suddenly disappear. Back then they wouldn’t even give those that were “inferior” jobs at all. In today’s history anyone can get a job , but those that are head of the jobs can and will play favoritism, so whoever he/she feels is lesser than them, they will treat that person different and make them do things that no one else would want to do. They can also try to mess around with that person’s schedule making them work days they can’t or even mess around with their pay, trying not to give them what they deserve. There is also racism that still occurs in schools. It necessarily doesn’t have to be shown to the public. It can be disclosed within grades. Some students grades may be extremely lower than others, it could be based on the student as well. For example if the student does not like the teacher because of his/her race or color the student might not listen, be disrespectful even not do the work. Although if it is the other way around the teacher might grade that students work differently, ignore them, even not help
