Rikki Tikki Tavi is a strong hearted and loyal character. However, at times he was disrespectful to the other animals and the humans. Rikki could be an upstanding character, but did not demonstrate it at all times. Rikki Tikki Tavi’s first disrespectful encounter happened when he questioned Nag about eating Darzee’s baby bird. He didn't think think that it was right to eat a fledgling and he let Nag know that in the tone he talked to him in. It really wasn't his place to question what other animals ate, but he did it anyway. That attitude didn't win him any friends Rikki could have tried to create a friendship with the snakes (even though his business in life was to fight and eat snakes), but he did not. Rikki overstayed his welcome at their house. He snooped around the house whenever he wanted like the time he talked to the muskrat in the living room at midnight. Rikki did whatever he wanted to do because he felt he was welcome to everything. After Rikki killed Nag, he knew he had to get Nagaina too. He didn't know where she had gone so he went to find Darzee. He then stated to taunt him from the minute he got there. He called to him, “Oh, you stupid tuft of feathers!” and then in anger also said, “Is this the time to sing?”. Darzee was only trying to praise Rikki, but he didn’t have any time for that. Rikki also said that he wanted to roll Darzee's’ babies out of his nest and told the bird that he didn't know what was really going on. Rikki was frustrated and took his anger out on his animal friend. Rikki finally acted back to normal when he was around the family and there were no more snakes. They praised him for his bravery and for being a good friend, but he never let that interfere with doing his job later on. Overall, Rikki Tikki was an upstanding character, even though he did show some disrespect to those around
