The character is the protagonist because he’s the victom. “I had borne as best as i could, but when he venture upon insult, i vowed revenge.” He wants revenge on Fortunado. He thought/did something so it led to Monstresor wanting revenge on Fortunado. “ You, who so well know thy nature of my soul, will not suppose, however, that i gave utterance to a threat.
