The main character johans become a receiver and gets memories of the past he can't handle these memories so he runs away from the community . The theme of this story is that memory is a important part of life and this theme is shown all throughout the book. This theme could also relate to the real world because memory are important to people like memories of your family and special times. People also use memoires so they don't repeat mistakes or do the same thing twice.But there is also pain in memory that's why the community took away memories.
