Have you ever felt compassion for someone and have you ever forgave someone for something they did? Well in the book Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe many characters showed compassion for each other and forgave one another at certain times. There are many characters in this book such as Susan, Lucy, Edmund, Peter, Mr. Tumnus, and Aslan. One of the themes for this book is to treat others the way you want to be treated. One character that shows compassion and forgiveness is Lucy. Mr. Tumnus was very sad and Lucy tried to cheer him up. Then when Mr. Tumnus tries to kidnap her and says he’s sorry, Lucy forgave him. This shows compassion because Lucy tries to cheer Mr. Tumnus up when he is really sad. This can relate to my life because usually
The definition of compassion: sympathetic pity and concern for the sufferings or misfortunes of others. As this definition shows compassion shows concern for other that every person would love to have. In The Chosen written by Chaim Potok, Mr. Potok really presents compassion in his book. Not only does he display compassion in one of his character but in every single one he gives them compassion that is expressed in different ways. He goes into detail example of compassion with each of his characters and really emphasizes the true meaning of compassion. Three main character that he shows compassion through in different ways are, Reuven, Mr. Malter and Reb Sanders.

One example on how he shows generosity is when he kills Duncan out of mercy by shooting him so he won’t suffer getting burned from the fire. Another act of kindness would be when he goes and rescues Cora and Alice, putting his own life in danger to protect them. Some more examples would also be when he tracked Cora and Alice and then he escorted them to Fort William Henry. He showed great kindness and sympathy to Cora when he broke the news to her about her father being dead.
Many people show empathy for humans like homeless people or ill family members or even just someone in a bad state. These people you can say show responsibility towards those events that are unpredictable in life. There are many people that show this, many people that explain this, and even many people that cause those emotions. These people don’t feel the same things we feel, these people see society in different eyes, in different ways, and in other words in different perspectives. They feel that they cannot forgive people for events that caused them anger, depression, or even made them feel like if they weren't worth anything.
Compassion has became something rare in our society, and something that a lot of people lack. The author, Barbara Lazear Ascher, explains to us that compassion is not a character trait, but rather something that we learn along the way with the help of real life situations we encounter, such as the ones she encountered herself. Ascher persuades her audience that compassion is not just something you are born with by using anecdotes, rhetorical questions, and allusions.
I intend on informing you of the ways, manors, and actions of forgiving others and showing forgiveness. The act of forgiving is represented well multiple times throughout the Old Testament, while making its importance well known. In Isaiah 1:18 God tells us how our sins are scarlet red but through “forgiveness” they can be washed white as snow (Alburger, Shaunta). One of Gods most significant examples of forgiveness is shown through Noah and the ark in Exodus. Even though the main point of the story is not highlighted, we can clearly see the example of forgiveness, this forgiveness being the ark. The ark offered salvation for all those who would listen and get aboard the craft. We also see throughout the Old Testament the hint of a future, final sacrifice. This ultimate sacrifice would be the son of God and was the true perfect sacrifice. Forgiving others and showing acts of forgiveness truly is important in our lives, and is why it is a reoccurring theme in the Old Testament but also the new.
In Children’s literature, the characters are good or bad. The author attempts to teach the children without confusing them. They are learning right from wrong when doing this. In the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, Clive Staples Lewis uses this in his novel with his characters. “He parallels the difference between right and wrong” (“Faith”). In the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, Lewis shows good vs. evil and the archetypes hero and villain in his novel.
Everyone in this world has a conscience that makes a person do bad things and good things. After a person has done a bad thing they will usually feel guilty and when they feel guilty enough they will admit to there wrong doing. Guilt exists in everyone that is human. In these stories "As the Night the Day" and "The Heir" guilt affects the two children Kojo and Sogun.

In today’s society, acts of compassion are rare as we get more and more focused on satisfying our desire for success and wealth. However, humans do sometimes show remarkable acts that melts the hearts of men and women and restore faith in humanity within those who are less optimistic. But it might not always be a kind return that you may get from such action. In the story “Sweat” by Barry Webster, a young girl named Sue allows Jimmy as an act of kindness to lick her “honey” on her body. As a result, Jimmy chokes from the honey and Sue gets more rejected from the other students at her school. By using characterization, dialogue and narration, Webster demonstrates the theme that compassion and kindness can bring more consequences than benefits when these actions are done by those who are different.
As humans, we are entitled to making mistakes in our lives, but by forgiving one free himself from anger. Marianne Williamson wrote this about forgiveness: “ Forgiveness is not always easy. At times, it feels more painful than the wound we suffered, to forgive the one that inflicted it. And yet, there is no peace without forgiveness.” In the book The Glass Castle undergoes many difficult circumstances in which the act of forgiveness is the only way to be at peace with her family, but more importantly herself. In conclusion, C.S Lewis symbolizes good and evil into his characters. The good one would be Aslan and the bad one would be the White Witch. They embody their role with characterization. This can be shown with the description of the two characters. Aslan is pure of heart and powerful and the Witch is cruel and terrifying. Also, their actions are key facts to demonstrate their chosen side. Aslan is always doing beneficial action for others, instead of the Witch that wants more and more power, willing to destroy life to achieve her goals. Through this book, the two opposite characters are really well explained and analysed.
William Shakespeare’s infamous Tragedy of King Lear is as much about political authority as family dynamic. Although regarded as one of the most emotionally difficult, and portrays a world lacking of love, in which humanity is detached from any spiritual, higher being, there is still glimmers of goodness that can be discovered. The Chronicles of Narnia are veritably the most popular writings of C.S. Lewis. They are known as children’s fantasy literature, and have found favor in older students and adults alike, even many Christian theologians enjoy these stories from Lewis; for there are many spiritual truths that one can gleam from them, if familiar with the Bible. With this in mind, and in the interest of this assignment, the purpose of this paper is an attempt to analyze one of the many doctrines of the Christian faith from The Lion, The Witch, And, The Wardrobe (LWW), namely, temptation and how Lewis illustrates it through an individual character, Edmund.
