In the film The Passion of the Christ directed by Mel Gibson, plays out the last twelve hours of Jesus’ life. This film was written by both Mel Gibson and Benedict Fitzgerald. It portrayed the historical period of first century A.D.. Mel’s film gives us more insight about the historical period it portrays, reflects the values and attitudes of the time period in which it portrays, shows certain values that characters symbolize, and the importance of this time in history.
The Passion of the Christ, was picked as the title of this film because it has a lot of significance. It was named, The Passion of the Christ, because it shows the passion of Jesus. Jesus shows his passion towards Jewish people and even people who were against him, through love, hope, faith, and forgives. He gave his life for the greater good of mankind and suffered so we could be saved.
The movie opens in the Garden of Olives. Jesus goes there after the last supper to pray with his apostles Peter, James, and John. While in the garden, Jesus is tempted by Satan but resists him. Jesus of Nazareth started a lot of controversial. He publicly announced that he is the Son of God and word spread fast that he could perform miracles. One of Jesus’ apostles, Judas, betrays Jesus for thirty pieces of silver and tells the guards of Caiaphas where he is. The guards come to collect Jesus and arrest him. Caiaphas hold a trial, where the find Jesus guilt of blasphemy and condemn him to death. After this trial, Jesus is brought to the Roman Governor of Palestine, Pontius Pilate, for his actual sentencing. Pontius realized that if he didn’t go along with what the people that follow Caiaphas that he would have major political conflict, so he sends the trial to King Herod. King He...

...atter of faith and what you believe in. As far as the movie goes it follows the New Testament, Hebrew Bible, traditional iconography and stories, and catholic devotional writings. So I believe it is safe to say that you can rely on the movie for the studying of history.
The Passion of Christ is a very powerful,moving movie. Mel Gibson did a great job directing and writing the movie along with Benedict Fitzgerald. The film did a very accurate job portraying the last twelve hours of Jesus’ in first century A.D.. The film gives the watcher more insight about the historical period it portrays, reflects the values and attitudes of the time period in which it portrays, shows certain values that characters symbolize, and the importance of this time in history. It also gives an appropriate study of history. I would recommend everyone to watch this very controversial movie.
