The Zapt: A Short Story

Once upon a time there lived a little zapt, who was a mixture of animals. The zapt was part of four animals such as, a zebra, alligator, pig, and turtle. The little zapt had big dreams of becoming a singer, famous like Justin Beaver, and Blake Snail-ton. Unfortunately his dreams were crushed on his first day of school.
He had been looking forward to the first day of school for years. When he entered the building everyone seemed to look at him strange, because they had never seen a zapt before. They were all horrified and gave ghastly looks toward one another. He had never witnessed this before because his mother always kept him inside the house. Questioning Sully’s answer the giraffe tried to understand what a zapt was. So the giraffe asked in a questioning answer, “what’s a zapt?!”
Sully smiled and said, “it’s part zebra, alligator, pig, and a turtle,” with a big grin. Sully started to hear a deep chuckle coming from one of the figures, it sounded as though it were a lion. Frightened and afraid, Sully backed away from the group. Although the little zapt’s actions were not heroic, the three dark figures started to laugh, and then soon the whole hallway was filled with laughter. Sully’s big grin drooped down, sad and depressed, he walked away to class. When he arrived to class the whole classroom was filled with giggles, quiet and sad, Sully looked around the classroom. To his surprise, the three dark figures walked into the room, as they stepped into the light he saw them more clearly. They each had one thing in common, and it was the cold heart inside. Despite the cold heart each of the three figures shared, the little zapt decided that it was kindness that count.
