The main idea in Zadie Smith’s ‘The Waiter’s Wife”, is that perseverance and hard work pays off in the end. Throughout the story Samad and Adlsana always thought about their future in hopes to improve their life. One thing about these two characters is that no matter what they were going through they tried looking at the positives, they kept saving their money in hopes to move, and the never took anything for granted or felts as if they were entitled to anything. All Amad wanted to do was do his best to support and protect his family. For example “from six in the evening until four in the morning was work and the rest was sleep” (3059).
