In the year 1775, the population of the Virginian Colony was around 500,000, which made it the most populous colony in North America. The majority of the population were farmers/planters, which made this colony an agricultural society. The other part of the population, which was not many people, were wealthy merchants or planters, such as large tobacco plantation owners which was a popular trade during this time. Although civilization in North America had prospered with settlements and developed a new way of life, the people here still were trying to catch up.
