What is the symbolism of the candle at the start of the movie?
I think the candle represents the Jewish people, and when the candle slowly starts to burn out, the Jews have entered a declining state, thus, changing from colour to black and white. The candle burning out transferred to a train splitting out steam, also representing all the poor souls sent into the crematorium.

Why was the film in black and white?
In my opinion, the film was shot in black and white because the Holocaust was a time where there was no hope. The Jewish people were living in a world without light, and I think that colour represents hope.

Why are the Jews forced to leave their homes and register their names?

At first, Schindler did not employ Jews to save them, but for personal gain as a cunning businessman. With anger, Stern refuses to drink with Schindler because he does not agree with Schindler’s morals and thinks that he is a greedy businessman. After Schindler’s change of heart later in the movie, Stern finally accepted him.

Why is Schindler’s wife a bit embarrassed and sad when she meets Oskar?
Schindler’s wife finds out that her husband lives with another woman in his apartment, and realizes that her husband has been continuously cheating on her while she was gone. Furthermore, she is upset when the doorman didn’t even realize that Schindler was married and had a wife. She then leaves Schindler because he cannot promise to be faithful to her.

Why did Schindler get mad at Stern when he brought in a worker to say his thanks?
As a businessman, Schindler needed skilled workers in his factory, but Stern has brought in people with no use to him. Fearing for his people, Stern realizes that the Nazis will kill people with no use, so he is trying to save them. Sadly, Schindler does not understand this, so he explodes at Stern after he sees the disabled
