The geographical nature of Oman is filled with conventional energy sources such as: Coal, Natural gas and Oil. The natural gas and oil are the most utilized conventional energy sources in Oman. The Sultanate of Oman has been extracting oil since the 1960s, which makes it a highly reliable energy source in the country. ... Wind turbines use the movement energy from the air flow which rotates the turbines, which will turn that energy into electricity. If a wind farm was established in the Dhofar Mountain chain and connected to the Salalah power system, the capacity of the wind system will be 3% of the total capacity of Salalah power system.
The highest wind speed recorded was in Thumrait and the Quiroon Hariti area which makes it the perfect place to build a wind farm project and here is a picture of the area showing how the hills are clear and allows wind passing freely.

Oman is a country with many renewable energy sources, it can easily be found all across country, high solar energy density can be found practically everywhere in the country. So hopefully in the upcoming years there shall be many project to use this renewable energy sources and cause less harm to the environment.
