What would the world be like without women? How would the men survive without us? There are some that may think it would be easier for a man if they did not have to worry about their women. They would not be able to handle the functions of a woman. Black women have been classified as being uneducated, strong- willed, hard to get along with; but this is demeaning to our beautiful black women. Black women are strong and are the backbone to a lot of good and wonderful things. Black women have had to confront and overcome double oppression, racism, and sexism. Mostly black women worked the fields, nursed the children, prepared the meals and tended to the housekeeping chores with the assumption that the man was the head of the household/family and leader in the affairs of the community. It is a well- known fact that Black women have most often been the backbone of the churches and civic organizations in the Black community, the worker bees that have made Black institutions and organizations viable and effective.
