Most would agree that SpongeBob Squarepants is one of the best animated shows of all time. Since 1999, it has brought us countless laughs with hilarious characters, genius writing, plus 2 movies. But, there’s a fine line between SpongeBob eras. After The SpongeBob Squarepants Movie (2004), the show went through some obvious changes. These changes affected how the show would be viewed. From 1999 to 2004, known as The Golden Age of SpongeBob, thrived on TV. Stephen Hillenburg, the creator of the show, worked on the show with his crew of writers, making a show that pleased all. Their writing gave us unique characters, such as Patrick Star, a starfish who wasn’t exactly smart. But, he wasn’t only reduced to that one trait. Hillenburg’s writing gave depth to all of the …show more content…
Now, with new writers, the show has changed. The characters, who were so in depth, now only had 1 trait. SpongeBob and Patrick were dumb, Squidward would always be annoyed, Sandy was smart, Mr. Krabs was greedy, and so on. These blatant deductions of audience’s favorite characters were recognized by the community and not taken lightly. The seasons after the 1st movie were much less critically acclaimed, and more hated than anything else. Also, the sense of humour changed with the new writers. The new seasons relied on “gross-out humour”, or an attempt to disgust the audience while also making them laugh. But audiences did not laugh at the revolting imagery that was supplied by the episodes. The episode The Splinter focuses on SpongeBob getting a splinter in his thumb. The entire episode is full of disgusting imagery that makes people squeal. It is 11 minutes of eye torture. Also, when the writers attempted to write an actual joke, they generally fell flat. Consequently, the new episodes of SpongeBob got received
It was hilarious whenever Fred Sanford of the hit series Sanford and Son used to fake his heart attack saying that famous phrase, “I’m coming Elizabeth” or what about him telling Aunt Ester how ugly she was. No one took that type of comedy to the heart and it was intended to hurt no one. It was all for a laugh. Now in today’s time there are new shows on television such as The Chapelle Show, which is hosted and directed by the comedian Dave Chapelle. The object of this show seems to be how much fun he can make of a different race. Times have changed and so have peoples’ since of humor. People went from the laid-back type sitcoms such as Sanford and Son, The Three Stooges, and The Little Rascals, which are all types of shows that people can watch with their entire family, to shows even adults feel turned away from. Some examples include The Chapelle Show and In Living Color.
The word sitcom is short for Situation Comedy. A good sitcom story idea places the star (or supporting character) into a situation in need of a resolution, which will cause the character to respond in unexpected, exaggerated, and hugely sidesplitting ways (Rannow, pg. 13). A comedy now days are different from how they were in the 1960's and 1970's though. Today directors use sexual content and foul language to make people laugh and do not usually have a purpose or point to get across to the audience with each show. In earlier comedy, such as The Brady Bunch, Director Jack Arnold tried have a lesson learned in each episode while still maintaining a sense of humor, minus the foul language and sexual content. Although the show is not extremely funny to most people it is still a classic show that deserves to be remembered.
SpongeBob SquarePants is accused of killing his boss Mr. Krabs; we are here to prove that SpongeBob is innocent. SpongeBob is a kind sponge that works at the Krusty Krab as a fry cook. We will prove that he handles all the cooking utensils thus his fingerprints will be found on these items. Witnesses place SpongeBob at the Krusty Krab before Mr. Krabs' death. SpongeBob admits he was in the restaurant, and that they had an argument, and that he became so angry he quit his job and left. However, Mr. Krabs was still alive when SpongeBob left the restaurant. We learned that Plankton paid off the pineapple loan. Why would he do that and where did the money come from? The defense contends that Plankton is somehow involved in the death of
The typical episode of the critically acclaimed, indie-darling, sitcom 30 Rock focuses on the lives of the writers, producers, executives and love interests of those involved in the production of a fictional sketch comedy television show called TGS with Tracy Jordan. 30 Rock is widely known as a show that deals with race, gender and class issues from multiple, humorous perspectives. Yet watching Season Five, Episode Twenty, a viewer could grow uncomfortable at the racial generalizations. The episode is entitled “Queen of Jordan” and is intended to parody the Real Housewives franchise of reality television. The episode was shot and aired as if it were a Bravo network reality show, entirely separate from 30 Rock, although it features the antics of the usual cast of 30 Rock. Although the critically acclaimed television show 30 Rock parodies the characterization of personhood on reality television, characters such as Angie Jordan (Sherri Shepherd) and her crew are still derivatives of these three classical African American stereotypes. 30 Rock’s uses these stereotypes to parody reality television and the humor stems from laughing at the racists rather than the race of the characters.
This goes to show that if enough people take action against a company, then t hey may get the result that they are fighting for. The company does want to rebuild its reputation and will have to make sacrifices in order to help make them a trustworthy brand again. By doing things like this, SeaWorld can hopefully regain the respect of some of its customers. However, while they have decided to stop breeding orcas, they still do not agree with many of the facts that are presented in Blackfish. They have published their own website with references saying that the film is closer to propaganda rather than a documentary (seaworldcares.com). As with many documentaries, Blackfish only presents one side of the story and does not show any of the good things that SeaWorld does to help rehabilitate and save animals. Before taking any action, people should try and get all sides of the story and make a decision for

Pull up the boards and you shall see! I killed him. But why does his heart not stop beating?! Why does it not stop!?”. Like the narrator, Mr.Krabs could not bear the sound of an object and became obsessive. The obsession grew until he couldn’t stand the noise any longer, so he seized the object and got rid of it. The choices made by the producers and actors shows a kiddy version of Edgar Allan Poe’s writings, which exposes younger children to certain aspects of Poe’s literature. After going back and watching the same episode of Spongebob that I viewed, from when I was younger, made me realize the similarities the episode had with the actual story. The episode of Spongebob gives a good interpretation of Poe’s story since the plot includes familiarities, just different characteristics. For example, in Spongebob Squarepants the object was a pair of boots instead of a heart from “Tell-Tale Heart”. Though “Squeaky Boots” did not include a killing of a man and his gruesome murder, the show interpreted that aspect differently. The end goal in both pieces were exactly the same which was a man who became obsessed over a noise of an object and believed that he must get rid of
Spongebob keeps getting teased that he’s a kid and doesn't deserve to be promoted. That leads to him being mad and sad. Like Odysseus when he thought he won't see Penelope again. He doesn’t see the point of going to work and decides to do nothing. Once Plankton steals the crown and blames it on Mr. Krabs he wants to prove himself and show that he's a man. Spongebob goes searching for the crown to show his braveness like Odysseus was forced to go to war. They both didn't want to go. Spongebob also has a “mentor” like Odysseus her names Mindy. Mindy helps warn Spongebob of
Similar to real life situations, the town proves to be a representation of society. Each citizen is unique, yet must learn to coexist with those around them. Bikini Bottom consists of educational institutes, places of employment, and divisions of town where the citizens must live. Just like in American society, the citizens must unite to provide an adequate living environment for themselves and others. Yet, a cunning realization of the show is that it not only encourages the American Dream, but it also notes life’s tests. No matter a person’s age, a citizen is going to experience conflicts that inevitably go along with living in society. For the younger audience, Bikini Bottom provides them with an understanding of what to expect in life. Struggles and clashes that occur in Bikini Bottom are similar to those that happen in a real society. The comical characters, particularly Spongebob, provide children with the types of ways they will see people dealing with the misfortunes of life. For example, Spongebob deals with struggling by using optimism to make the best of a situation. Mr. Krabs retorts to this same kind of situation by looking for someone else to blame. No matter how the character’s personality forces them to react to pressure, it shows the young viewer an important lesson of people. For the older audience, these same personalities of characters help them reflect on the people they have
It’s clear that some people don’t enjoy watching Spongebob Squarepants. Haters tend to say that spongebob is homosexual, it’s for little kids and that it is uninteresting. I am here to defend why Spongebob Squarepants is none of those things. Spongebob and Patrick specifically isn’t homosexual because the director didn’t state that, some episodes may look rather not appealing, but the writer only made the episodes like that to make it funny for the audience.
Has one ever wondered what the world used to be like when one was born or a baby? Nothing is the same as it used to be. The music we listen to, the food we eat, the books we read, the way we dress, the television shows we watch, and everything else has changed from the times we were born to now. I was born in March of 1996, and the most popular children’s television show was Rugrats. Now in 2014, the most popular children’s television show is SpongeBob SquarePants. A lot has changed over the years, like the most popular television shows, but a lot has also stayed the same. Rugrats and SpongeBob SquarePants have many traits in common, but they also have several differences.
Shipoopi came from one of my older brothers who watched an episode of “Family Guy” and was not trying to say a curse word, but instead said shipoopi. The word stayed with us because we never say any curse words and were raised not to. At first it was only him but then after a while it was all of us, and as time went by the word transformed from “shipoopi” to “poop.” Even though we rarely use shipoopi it is still used but not as often as before. In addition, shipoopi has little history, and is used mainly by us in many circumstances that we come across.
90’s television shows commonly centered on the urban life of children. Few shows give a relatable example of the world children in this decade saw outside of their televisions sets. Hey Arnold! (1994) was unique in that way. The Nickelodeon cartoon pressed the bounds of children’s shows by displaying every aspect of urban life; the good, the bad and the ugly. The creators shunned the cookie-cutter storyline and painted a diverse cast with vibrant palette of characters from different races and religions, and fought gender stereotypes.
Borshansky stated, "American cartoon culture finally got tired of Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse. They wanted some depth to cartoons, compelling...
In 2004 the spongebob movie was released, and all the kids watched it with joy. That caused them to want to be spongebob squarepants for halloween. Also in 2011 the 3rd angry birds app was released and it was a huge hit. So once again kids begged their parents for an angry birds costume for halloween. As you can tell a pattern
