Losing a loved one is a significant and painful occurrence. It can make you realize how fast things can happen. I lost an uncle who wasn’t just precious to me but to the whole family. It made my family very sad that there where a few changes in the house. Having to go through our day-to-day lives and having to hear shocking news you’d never think of hearing is a difficult task to accepted and go one with our life like if it wasn’t important to anyone. Its has happened to everyone else at one point in their life where a love one has passed away and has made you appreciate life more. To me the death of my uncle made me see the world in a different way where it made me appreciate everything I have in life. It was a cloudy and rainy morning. I’d just gotten off the bus from school and was in a good mood, excited even because I had a field trip the next day. As soon as I walked in the door I was whisked away to run errands with my mom and it was just like any other day. Then she got a phone call in the car. It wasn’t unusual but this time when we pulled into a store’s parking lot she got out and asked me to wait. So I sat back and waited while she walked a little ways away to talk. When she came back to get me she was quiet and when we walked through the store and I begged her for all the usual toys and snacks she didn’t say no, she just put them in our basket and moved on. I didn’t notice that then, only when I relived the day later on did I realize all she’d done. When we finally got home she brought me and my sister up to her bedroom together and broke the news.
This made everyday a little bit better as I have kept this in the back of my mind. The National Hospice Organization says “In a sense, you are never finished grieving”. This is true, one will always feel sadness when remembering an individual that used to be in your life and is no longer here with you. Ever since the beginning of time, there has been life and death. In life, one makes many connections, many memories, and many mistakes. Then in death, one leaves it all behind, only being remembered by those one has encountered. However, the death of one's loved one is never easy. When they die, it is as if they took a part of their loved one with them.
Everybody at some point in their life will experience some sort of heartache which will cause them some sort of grief. Each and every person deals or does not deal with it differently. Through the many different beliefs and theories on the process and levels of grief, there is one thing in common. It can be very difficult, and sometimes life changing to deal with and move on from grief. People who experience the loss of a loved one have great difficulty accepting their death as shown by the, denial, bargaining, anger, false acceptance, and actual acceptance expressed by the grieving person.
Much of the pain of death for the living comes from a sense of loss. It marks an end to all the possibilities both for us and for the departed that might have been realized by a longer life. Overall even though death is a sad thing it is part of the reason I am the person I am today. It has made me realize that I need to develop stronger relationships now so I don’t have any regrets if they had suddenly passed on. I have found out that I can’t make amends for anything after a person is gone.

I went to extended care that day as they were running late from the doctor. It seemed as if it was a normal day, but little did I know I would be staring at the television in horror for the rest of the week. It was simply an average day. My mother picked me up from extended care and asked me, “How was school?”, as she usually does.
I woke up Tuesday morning excited for the day I was going to spend with my mom. I was sitting at the kitchen table drinking fresh coffee listening to my mom and aunt tease and joke around about how paranoid my mom was about doing well in her classes, my aunt was telling her that maybe now that I was there, she would relax a little bit and have some fun. After, she passed, life seemed darker for awhile. Perhaps, losing loved ones, are physical and mental blows, that I can’t seem to get away from. I would cry for days with wondering thoughts on how I could have saved them. As family and friends disappeared whether by death or just lack of communications in friendships, it had negatively affected me, wondering when will the last day be. However, as I begun to face the realities of life, I am learning that you enjoy life today and focus on whatever comes when it comes.
It started like any other day, I was running late. I had slept though my alarm and nearly slept through my parents calling me. I was lucky that my mom called to see if I was up. If my mother had not call me, I would have missed English class completely. I was already a half an hour late for this class.
Dealing with the grief of a loved one is not an easy task. Only time can heal the pain of someone you’re used to be around is suddenly gone. When my uncle passed it was the first experience with death in which I was old enough to understand. Nobody really close to my family had passed away before, so I was unprepared with the pain and sadness that came with it. I also thought about it but I never really thought of something like this happening to me. I wish I had spent more time with my uncle, but I never thought about it because I never thought he would passing away so quickly. This is always why it is good for every day to show your family how much you love and appreciate them because you never know when their last day on earth is.
In my life time, I have experienced many deaths. I have never had anyone that was very close to me die, but I have shed tears over many deaths that I knew traumatically impacted the people that I love. The first death that influenced me was the death of my grandfather. My grandfather passed away when I was very young, so I never really got the chance to know him. My papaw Tom was my mothers dad, and she was very upset after his passing. Seeing my mom get upset caused me to be sad. The second death that influenced my life was the death of my great grandmother.
