I Believe
I believe in the Holy Trinity. I believe in God the Father, God the Son-Jesus Christ-, and God the Holy Spirit. Three entities completely mend into one- God the Father. The three have their own separate personalities and amazing abilities. Recently, I read a book called “The Shack” by William P. Young that was about a man who got to encounter the three in each form. Now I might ask how can I believe something can be three things at once? It's simple; in Matthew 8:18-19 it states, “ Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,”.
God the Father is the origin.

Many people have taken offense to the display of God as a black women. Many Christians believe that God is a Spirit, he takes no human form. The problem with the grasp of the idea of Him being a black women is not the race factor, yet the disgrace of trying to view God in a human image instead of human being in God’s image. In Genesis 1:27 it states, “ So God created man in his [own] image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” God is His own, and He needs to be exalted on high.
What is the problem with the Holy Spirit being perceived as a Asian gardener? The problem with the Holy Spirit is very simple. In the Bible the Holy Spirit is a Spirit, it in the book the author displays the Spirit as a person. In John 3:6 it explains, “Flesh gives birth to flesh, but Spirit gives birth to spirit.” The book also provides a deranged view of the character- the Asian gardener. It does not give any implications of what the real Holy Spirit does and it’s purpose in

Many viewers would call this book a Pseudo-Christian. “Pseudo-Christian media is any book, movie, etc. that presents itself as Christian, but is an imitation or intentional deception of the true gospel of Jesus Christ.” (Fairchild) Pseudo-Christian is a manipulative way to get a hidden message across. There are many movies, books , and tv shows that try to use Christian views and religion, but they manipulate it in such a way it isn't noticeable to nonbelievers. It is the devil who manipulates religion and faith to try to deceive people. Matthew 7:15 warns us, “Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravenous
Womanist biblical hermeneutics centers Black women’s experience and identity, social location, historical memory, a hermeneutics of suspicion, and a hermeneutics of affirmation. In addition, womanist biblical hermeneutics are radical and subversive forms of biblical interpretation that provide multi-dimensional systemic analysis and critique, acknowledge and affirm a multiplicity of voices and identities. Womanist biblical hermeneutics provide a means for Black women to critique unjust forms of oppression, discourse, and practices, especially in relation to the use of scripture in order to facilitate social transformation. This bibliographic essay will map the various conceptual frameworks and methods of religious scholars engaging in womanist’s
Bible does not have the word Trinity and it does not provide a clear definintion of it. However, the Trinity is one of the most important and key beliefs in our faith. Now, the question we have to ask is, “Is the doctrine of the Trinity really biblical?” Even though we can never fully comprehend the Trinity, scripture help us to understand better. Knowing the doctrine of the Trinity and its biblical basis in the old and new testaments is very important. Biblical evidence supports the Trinity and teaches us that there is one God who exists eternally in three People. The Bible does provide us, with all the component parts of the doctrine. We are made to confess the Trinity as a truly biblical doctrine.
Throughout history, women’s roles have increased slowly. Not until the second Great Awakening did black women begin to gain roles in Christianity and in society. Between the 19th and 20th century black women used multiple methods to gain authority. Some women preached and gave speeches while other women used nonverbal approaches like writing articles. During this time period everyone wasn’t welcoming to the idea of a woman being consider a leader of any major movement. Black women didn’t always have authority in religious settings, but as time progress women became influenced by Christianity which ultimately pushed them to become leaders even though they knew everyone wouldn’t accept them.
“The practice of baptism in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit in the second century propelled the development of the trinitarian theology” (LaDue 48). According to Collins, the trinity can be defined by three statements “1. There is only one true God. 2. This one true God exists as three distinct persons. 3. Each person is fully divine” (Collins 29-31). The three people that make up the trinity are the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. First there is the Father. There are many Bible passages where God is referred to as the Father, this can be concluded because He alone created all things and His first human creation, Adam, was called the son of God. Jesus is God’s son and he was sent by his father, the Father, to offer humanity salvation from their sins. The “God of the Israelites reveals himself as a distinct, unique, superior deity who is always there. God’s being there is what defines him” (LaDue 14). The Israelites sometimes see the God Yahweh as an imitation of the trinity in the old testament, but they do not have distinct leveled personalities. Although God is distinct and unique, the idea that He is superior can be a false assumption as all the persons of the trinity have equal power and divinity. Another person of the trinity is the Holy Spirit. Yes, the Holy Spirit is a person. This is a common misconception of the
The black woman, she is as diverse and as beautiful as the billions of humans she gave birth to. The first homo sapiens to appear in the fertile land of East Africa were nurtured from her bosom; the wisdom and strength that is characteristic of the black woman today is not a recent acquisition but qualities that were honed over thousand of years. Every woman on this earth has mitochondrial DNA (mitochondrial DNA is the DNA transferred from mother to child and the only genetic material that stands the test of time)from Lucy, the small black woman found in the Awash Valley in Ethiopia. Lucy is her English name but I prefer the appellation given to her by the Ethiopians, Dinkesh, which means "you are beautiful" or "you are wonderful." Her dark skin, beautiful lips and course hair is not a sign of shame or inferiority but of the dominance of her genes. The fact that any baby born by a black woman and a male of another race will more likely resemble its mother is a testament to that dominance, a testament that within the veins of a black woman lies the blue print to life. However, put aside all that I have stated and yet the black woman is still not given the respect that is due to her. A travesty has been committed that leaves the black woman dying alone and her offspring fatherless. Single black mothers are ubiquitous to every black neighborhood and casts a negative cloud on a whole people who have lost the basic atom of what makes a people a people: family.
We should learn that we are all alike to God. It not based on color or figure as some people would go by. God is going to look as equal because we are no better off than next the person. Even though homo-sapiens are judgmental and superior like Mrs. Turpin, Humans must understand that god judges humans as we judge others. Humans should take that in to consideration to avoid doing the similar thing that Mrs. Turpin is doing. If humans do, they won’t be in front of heaven; instead they will be in the rear of this great parade.
...ds to film, the religious stories surrounding the scenario are more than likely far less exciting and more straightforward than what is portrayed. The depiction of Christianity in a melodramatic fashion aims to keep people interested but it is not taken into consideration that the events that had taken place in Christian texts such as the bible could be equally interesting and exciting if they are depicted accurately within the story being narrated. Movies are over eager when they get a religious topic to work with and place it unnecessarily over the top, so that the religious undertones and lessons are almost lost and to get them, one must pay extremely close attention.
The Trinity is a complex thought. Even though it gets complicated, to believe in one essence & nature being three persons it is the biggest truth. Discovering what each part of trinity means is and what it includes is where it first starts. The Father, Son (Jesus Christ) and the Holy Spirit are all one but separate. I believe the Trinity is true but I also believe that the trinity is a true depiction of God.
Now we can define the Holy Spirit (corresponding to spirit). The spirit is a force (as the Jehovah Witnesses and others believe), or power that issues or emanates from the Father. It is the life force of God. It is the essence of God. It is a snare that is invisible.
It is obvious that over time Whites have created a particular image that most people see when they think about what Jesus looks like. The most common idea of a picture of Jesus is Him having fair skin, blue eyes and long flowing dirty blond hair. Many people do not picture Jesus as a Black person might picture Him. In this alone, there is an implication of a specific stereotype on Jesus, which implies that His message does not apply to everyone. This is the reason why blacks are on a ‘quest’ for a Black messiah. White theology makes it seem as though God’s word is oriented toward white people and not black people. White theology is limited in its interpretation of the Christian faith as far as other races are concerned because Whites never conceived the “Black Jesus walking in the ghettos”. The tragedy of the interpretations of Jesus Christ is that in His name, the most ...
Movies and books such as The Da Vinci Code that carry themes that are directly related to the Bible are going to face criticism, especially when the themes within them display controversial information that undermines how Christians and the Church understand the Bible. The Da Vinci Code explores a conspiracy about the Vatican and Jesus, and director Ron Howard displays on screen what author Dan Brown presented as historical truth in his novel. Much like Brown, director Darren Aronofsky presented his 2014 film Noah to be a truthful account of the famous Biblical story, but in reality rewrote the story to be what many argue is an “anti-biblical” representation of the true story of “Noah’s
The Trinity is made up of God the Father, God the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This concept is what many Catholics believe in, but other worldwide religions believe in other beliefs. Out of all the three Divine Persons, “Jesus is the most qualified to bring the renewal of creation because it was through him that creation came into being” (Pohle February 7th). We as humans will have to face the consequences for actions that we have done in the past, present and future. Jesus has come into the world as a human to show his dignity and save us from sin; he was the world and of all creation. As we come to read more about Jesus we get to know Jesus more, we learn about what he did, how he did it and why he had to do these saving actions.
The term trinity is used to indicate the doctrine used in the Christian faith that is interpreted as symbolizing that God is unified in his existence in three definite persons which is God the father, God the son and God the holy spirit (Hodgson, Juugel, Kelly, Presitge, Wainwright, 2016). The essence of understanding the Trinity is comprehending that God is three persons, each person is divine, and there is only one God (Johnson, 2014, 174-175). Theologians may debate that the term persons may not be the appropriate term in reference to the trinity just because persons may be viewed as actually being separated in the physical since (Gordon, 2015, 485). However, in reference to God there are not three different beings or entities, but the term trinity helps express the understanding that God is one substance and body (Johnson, 2014, 174).
Scholars engaging in Womanist biblical hermeneutics transform certain strands of biblical interpretation by drawing from literary, biblical, and other extra-biblical sources as a means to illuminate the hegemonic, patriarchal and kyriarchal powers that render Black women exploited, marginalized and oppressed. Philosopher, Clarice Martin and biblical scholar Nyasha Junior’s scholarship highlights American Womanist religious studies scholar’s appropriation of Alice Walker’s definition and concept of womanism as employed in her text In Search of Our Mother’s Garden to reflect their distinctive focus on African American women in their scholarship. Additionally, Junior charts the development of the term “womanist” throughout the expansion of womanist
