Participation trophies are made to boost children’s self confidence and to encourage them to try new activities even though they are new and have no experience in the newly found activity. The trend for participation trophies is hard to pinpoint but people are saying, “that it spiked during the second half of the twenty century” (Aaron Stern). Mr. Stern continued to explain that the trophies were once used for struggling community, and taught the kids that they were valued and to remember that fact.
