Soccer is one of the most popular and most played sports in the world. A very important aspect in every sport, and also in soccer, is youth development and identification. Anticipation is a key parameter in the field of youth development and identification. Soccer players has to deal with a complex and quickly changing environment. Before deciding what action is required in a specific situation players have to pick up information from the ball, opponents and teammates. Opponents try to restrict ‘time’ and ‘space’ that is available to make that decision. This pressure suggests that a part of the total performance of a soccer player is dependent on his ability to anticipate on future soccer situations. From an early age, I have played soccer with either my friends or by myself. Throughout the years I maintained a strict training regimen, such exercises included sprints, hurdles and squares. Doing these exercises helped further develop my SAQ or Speed, Agility, & Quickness for short. These three things are important in most sports, especially in soccer. SAQ is needed to compete athletically with other players, but can also be the determining factor in you being successful in beating players. In this sport I needed to be strong and physically fit. I have to be able to run for 90 minutes. It’s not just running at one pace either. Start and stop. Sprint, run, jog, and sprint again. Soccer is nonstop and the pace is always changing. As for strength, it is important compete athletically with players. You need to be able to hold your own. I need strength going up in the air for a 50/50 ball, or when you are holding off a defender and waiting for the rest of your attack to get involved. I don’t want to be all muscles though.
