Why are Native Americans a subculture in the United States?

Native Americans are a subculture because they have values, beliefs, and traditions and they live such a different life from the majority. Also they have their own reservations made for their cultural sanctuary’s.

Should they just assimilate into American culture?

I don’t believe they should assimilate into the American culture. The Navajo tribe has been around since year 1400. They have ancestors that go back many years who have been in this tribe, and to take that away from them would be cruel. They live very different lives from the American culture. Not only do they think different about the value of mother nature, they have different values, and beliefs as other.

Why would an Indian choose to live on a reservation?

An Indian may choose to live on a reservation because they have grown up there their whole lives and so have their parents, grandparents, and even their ancestors. They want to share the same values, morals, and traditions and keep their culture and beliefs alive.

Family members are having to leave reservations to find a job to support their family. Another challenge is some families don’t have fresh running water because, the government won’t allow them to get fresh water. There forth, causing the people who don’t get it they have to go to the nearest well and fill buckets up and bring it home. Another challenge is that less and less people are speaking Navajo language. It’s harder to learn and when you influenced to English daily it’s much easier to learn English. In the video the grandma says how she can’t connect as much as she wants to with her grandchildren because they don’t speak much Navajo and that is all the grandma
