What is the probability of making a bank shot? Research shows the bank shot gives you a 20 percent more of a chance of making the basket.
There are many different things that involve in making a bank shot other than just making sure you hit the right spot on the back board. According to Silverberg you have to have the right launch height, launch speed, launch angle, and the aim angle. Most people don’t like the bank shot because it’s not as exciting as a swish. But which will you rather take? A shot that has a 55 percent chance of going in or a shot that has a 75 percent chance of going in? Now know these statistics, most people would rather take the 75 percent shot.
In new studies that Larry Silverberg conducted was that “From more than 12 feet away, from the corner to the wing you have a 0-80% chance of making the bank shot. From wing to the other side of the wing you have a 60% chance.” So precisely you want to a bank shot when you are in between the corner and the wing. That’s where you have the highest chance of making the shot. Also when you get closer to the hoop, your chances also increases.
According to Silverberg, “For a given angle, the best target on the backboard is essentially the same no matter how far away the shooter is.” The square on the backboard isn’t always essential on making a back shot. It is there to help and guide you to make the right decision to put the basketball on the glass. “Connecting the aim points from all possible shot locations produces a pattern that looks much like the letter ‘V’ drawn above the red square on the backboard.” Using this “V” gives you the best aiming point in making a bank shot. So when you go to shoot, picture that “V” and you have a good chance in making the shot.

“There are four major components in shooting a shot. How tall you are, how far away from the basket you are, the ball’s angle, and the ball’s speed.” You’re height and how far away from the basket you are, will determine what angle you should shoot the ball and how fast you should make the ball go. If you are 5’8” and you are 15 feet away from the basket, you want to shot the ball at a 60° angle and make the ball go 18 miles per hour. This will give you a perfect swish.

Shooting is the main part of basketball. If you don’t shoot, you don’t score and if you don’t score you lose, and nobody likes to lose. Shooting the ball is something that takes a extreme amount of time for it to become perfect. I’ve been playing basketball for over 10 years and I still don’t know how to shoot the perfect shot.
Although many youngsters fail in the NBA, there are a few high school players who have had, or do have a successful career in the NBA. Some of these are, Moses Malone, Kobe Bryant, Tracey McGrady, and this year’s most valu...
Trap shooting is a major part of my life. Ever since I started shooting last summer, I have spent much of my time practicing. It can be both incredibly fun and incredibly frustrating. While it has only been two years, I have improved a ton. Mostly thanks to my two coaches, who devote much of their time and resources to helping my teammates and I. As far as coaches go, I couldn’t ask for better. Over the years they have created many great shooters, including two of the best shooters in the United States, whom we regularly see out at the range. This is even more impressive knowing that it is not a very easy sport to coach.
A successful descriptive narrative gives the necessary information for a reader to know the material of a text. For instance, narrating the text of a story allows the audience to connect with the feelings of the narrator. A description incorporates visuals so that the audience can recognize the image being portrayed. “Shooting an Elephant” and “The Lottery” are both descriptive narratives. Descriptive narratives give the reader a clearer understanding of the passage. “Shooting an Elephant” is the stronger descriptive narrative because of vivid sensory detail, manipulating the perception of the reader, and Orwell’s use of conflict.

Many of us know of the fun game of basketball, the object of the game is to basically run up and down the court and shoot the ball, and block the other team when they try to score. Whichever team has the most points at the end of the game is the winner. According to Bran Faurschou’s article, “ NBA Hoops Online” Basketball was invented in 1891 by, Dr. James Naismith. He was a physical education instructor. Back then the game of basketball was a little bit different, It was the same concept but it was different. When Dr. James was working as the physical education instructor at the YMCA training school, he came up with the game of basketball as an activity for his
Basketball is defined as a game where two teams of five play each on a rectangular court, usually indoors (Basketball/Sport). Basketball was invented by James Naismith on December 1, 1891 (Basketball/Sport). The object of basketball is to shoot the basketball through the opposing team’s basket and to out-score them by end of the regulation time limit. If the score is tied at this time, the game will go into overtime until one team wins. While reading about basketball, I found it interesting that when the sport was invented they would nail baskets to balconies with no backboards. This made it easy for spectators (in the balcony) to help their team by either swatting the
Attention Getter: “I wish I was a little bit taller, I wish I was a Baller, I wish I had a girl who looked good I would call her.” That timeless phrase coined by Ski-Lo in the early nineties, resonates with so many of us because all of those goals are things that people relate to being successful. And while I can’t help you with the first and the last respectively, becoming a “Basket-baller” is quite feasible, with a little hard work.
In basketball, the goal is to win the game. To do that your team needs to make more baskets than the opponent. So, I am going to teach you how to shoot correctly just in case you ever find yourself playing in a game. You need to have the correct form, proper stance, jump, and follow through.
The higher an object is held, the more potential energy it has (if it is going to be dropped). When that object, such as the basketball, is dropped, its potential energy is converted into kinetic energy. The closer the ball gets to the ground, the more its potential energy decreases and its kinetic energy increases. The reason the ball does not bounce up all the way back to its original drop point is because when it hits the surface, some of its kinetic energy is “l...

Physics is a part of everyday life. It is evident in the modern technological devices we use in every day experiences and objects around us. Although physics is understood to be only useful in the classroom, physics can also be applied to one the most popular activities on the planet, basketball. Whether jumping for the ball, or leaping for a slam dunk, the human body follows the same laws of projectile motion as do other objects. The sport that includes shooting, passing, running, and dribbling involves topics covered in physics such as force, friction, effects of air resistance, velocity, air pressure and energy. Basketball also involves factors such as projectile motion in making a basket, gravity and its effects on passing and dribbling, and Newton’s First and Third Law on passing and a number of others.
The most important part of the game of basketball is shooting the basketball, after all the object of the game is to put the basketball through the basket. A shot is taken by a player pushing on the ball and launching it toward the basket and upon the ball hitting the rim or backboard physics refers to this action as a contact force. Using this concept of contact force a shot can be calculated exactly. From a player’s height, the mass of the ball and a given position on the court which would include the distance from the basket it is possible to calculate the exact angle and force the shooter must apply to make a basket every time he or she shoots the ball. Of course if it were this easy basketball would not be as fun to watch or play. The problem with hitting a shot every time with the calculated angle and force is that the ball would have to travel toward the basket with the exact angle and force calculated for that particular shot. What makes this difficult is that the muscles in our body would have to be controlled flawlessly to push the ball with the exact amount of force and to give the ball the exact angle that is needed every time a shot is taken...

Basketball is a very complex sport that takes many years to fully grasp the Complete concept of. Basketball is for anyone who is willing to get a little physical, for you are running up and down the court with ten other players while playing defence and offence. There are just a few things you need to focus on when starting off. These include; dribbling, passing, shooting, and defence. You need to learn the rules and regulations in the game as well. Not only that, but, Always be in triple threat position, meaning you have your elbows are out and you are balanced. This assures that the ball is protected and you are in the position to either pass, shoot or dribble.
