When Hurricane Katrina hit the coast of Louisiana, when tornadoes rampaged the Tennessee Valley, when floods washed away Southern California, thousands if not millions of families were displaced. Government run agencies teamed up with private agencies to provide for these families, however, it was not enough, it still is not enough. Homelessness was a rampant problem in all of these situations. Over 400,000 people were displaced after Hurricane Katrina hit, and over 11,000 of them became homeless (Whoriskey Par.1; Burdeau Par. 2).
