The Power of Prophecy According to Max Dublins THE POWER OF PROPHECY, He seems to want to give a feeling that prophecy is all in the listeners mind and that Prophets are mostly very manipulative people and can influence people greatly. I tend to agree with this to some degree. One of the most read sections in the paper today is the astrological page. Why is that? It's because people look for easy answers to their everyday problems. But most people would not believe that their horoscope was probably someone else's horoscope from the day before. People will try to make what they read really happen. So if your horoscope for today said that you are going to have a great day and you'll be in a good mood, you probably will have a day like that, only because you read it early in the day and that person who wrote that influenced you to try and actually make a great day for yourself. Coming from personal experience, one of my exgirlfriends read our horoscope on if we were going to be a long lasting couple. She was very much into the whole tarot card readings and into astrology. She would read them every day. I suppose you can already figure out what the horoscope said? Yes, it said that we weren't going to last. Now if the horoscope had said that we were meant to be together and we were supposed to be together forever, maybe we would still be together?? Well, probably not, but the point is that since she read that horoscope about us and being the type of person that is into horoscopes and easily influenced, she always had that in the back of her head and everything was different since that day only because she was influenced by this horoscope. But there will always be people who believe and swear by horoscopes. But if they work for you, then I guess there is nothing wrong in believing in the horoscopes. Another great manipulator or great influencer of people can be the fortunetellers. You know, those people that you pay to read your palm and they tell you about your past and what your future will be. The one's who are good at this, are the ones who can read people well.

    In Meditations III, one of the six meditations in his book Meditation, Objections, and Replies, René Descartes acknowledges the existence of God. Descartes says, “Indeed I have no choice but to conclude that the mere fact of my existing and of there being in me an idea of a most perfect being, that is, God, demonstrates most evidently that God too exists.”(28) Descartes believes that he did not come into existence by himself, but some higher being, God, had to be in existence already and had to create Descartes. I agree with Descartes’s reasoning of God’s existence. But then as Descartes continues his ideas into the fourth meditation, he begins to discuss how God is a perfect being. Descartes says, “To begin with, I acknowledge that it is impossible for God ever to deceive me, for trickery or deception are always indicative of some imperfection.”(30) Deception is seen as an imperfection. And since God is a perfect being, deception is not a part of Him. This is where I do not agree with Descartes’ knowledge and reason. I believe that God does have the power of deception and that God uses it. In this paper I will argue that God is not the perfect being that Descartes argues He is since there are instances in which God displays His deceitful tendencies. I will provide two examples of how God is deceptive. Descartes, however has made certain points in his meditation that he feels like strengthens his ideas of God not being a deceiver. Keeping his ideas in mind, I will discuss a possible way in which Descartes would reply to my objection against his ideas.
