‘The Outsiders” movie was outgoing and adventurous.They have many similarities.They also have many differences as well. Some outrageous similarities that you might not know are…. One similar thing between the novel and book is the church caught on fire. When the church then caught on fire they went over to the church and got every kid out. Johnny got hurt and had to go to the hospital because tember fell on broke his back. After he got to the hospital days later Ponyboy and Dally visited him there and he had his last breath. The Outsiders was a great book, and the movie was a great way to wrap everything up. There were some similarities, but a lot more differences. When I watched the movie, I could see how the characters in the movie didn't exactly match how they were portrayed in the book. My imagination was on a different track than what I saw in the movie. In my next paragraph I will explain the character differences in the book and the movie.

On April 24, 1967, a remarkable book was published by eighteen year old S. E. Hinton. Themed on a greaser named Ponyboy who him and his gang are treated badly by the Socs, the book is about Ponyboy and his best friend Johnny on the run after Johnny kills a Soc. With help from one of their gang members, they sneak on a train to get to a church in the countryside. While eating at a restaurant, the old church catches fire with kids stuck in it, leaving Johnny and Ponyboy the ones to save the kids. While saving the children, a large, scorching piece of timber falls on Johnny, putting him in critical condition. While Johnny is in the hospital, a ‘rumble’ goes on in which the Socs and greasers fight in the vacant lot,
Poney does not want to be in a boys home, due to his parents death all three boys should be in a boys home. He mentions both in the book and the movie he has to be careful with getting into huge trouble because if the cops found him they would put him in a boys home since he has no parent. Cherry is very kind hearted in both the movies she tells Ponyboy about how you can’t assume if one person from this group is like that, then that must mean everyone else there is the same. She finds a way to figure someone out, if they are a certain way it's because of their past because they've gone through tough stuff she says “Things are rough all over”(S.E. Hinton). In both Cherry spills soda on Dally for trying to hit on her and tells him “get lost hood” (S.E. Hinton), but then tells Pony that if she sees Dally she's afraid she will fall for him, because she sees the good in him. Poney boy also talks to Johnny about the poem Nothing Gold Can Stay in both while watching the sunset about losing your innocence and views in life. When Johnny passes away he tells Ponyboy Stay
The Outsiders and The Wednesday Wars deal with misunderstandings among young people in the 1960’s and show how people can form friendships despite their differences. The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton is about two rival gangs, the Greasers and Socs. Ponyboy Curtis and some Greasers befriend Cherry Valance, a Soc. She spies on the Socs and helps out the Greasers. Ponyboy and his friend, Johnny Cade, become involved with the killing of a Soc, so they run away to an abandoned church. When the church catches on fire, Ponyboy, Johnny, and their friend Dallas Winston, save a few children who were trapped in the burning building. Johnny gets injured during the process and later dies. Can some people so different be so a like? Can some people so alike be so different? Dally and Johnny are those two who are so different, but yet they are similar. In the book S.E. Hinton writes The Outsiders, Johnny Cade and Dally Winston come from two completely different backgrounds, and have completely different scruples. Yet, at the same time they are alike. Dally and Johnny’s parents both repudiate them, making Johnny and Dally mentally tough, and the boys do not value their lives. At the same time though they are different, Dally is stronger than Johnny. Though, Johnny has a soft heart and Dally would not even pay any attention if someone is dying right next to him.
You don’t often think of heroism when you think of Greasers, but there are a few exceptions. I think that the character I have picked are very heroic, brave, and just overall great people.

Hinton's book, The Outsiders, the main character, Ponyboy Curtis, tries to combat the social separation between the Greasers, presented as poor gang members, and the Socs, depicted as rich and out of trouble. In the book Ponyboy, a Greaser, tries to escape murdering a Soc in self-defence. In Khaled Hosseini's novel, The Kite Runner, Hosseini illustrates the effect of the social and political strife on the country and its people through Amir, a rich Pashtun Sunni boy, and Hassan, a poor Hazara Shi'i. Hassan is sexually assaulted for being a religious minority and a servant. Amir abandons him and tries to forget until he chooses to save Hassan's son from the Taliban. Both Hinton and Hosseini explore the theme of class separations harming people, which extends across the two novels' radically different settings and characters.
West Side Story is a book about two gangs living in a large city. The Outsiders is a book with the same concept, two gangs that are archrivals. Even though two different authors wrote these books during two different time periods, they have the same story line. These books are realistic, because gang rivalry is still going on today. They are different, since they were written separately. Also, both these books have different problems between the main characters. Still, West Side Story and The Outsiders have many similarities.
Another similarity in the book and movie is that the characters have to go against their morals in order to decide what to do in certain situations. Ponyboy talks about him as having ", an elfish face with high cheekbones and a pointed chin, small, sharp animal teeth, and ears like a lynx. Ponyboy and his two brothers, Darrel (Darry), who is 20, and Sodapop, who is 16, have recently lost their parents in an automobile accident. Pony and Soda are allowed to stay under Darry's guardianship as long as they all behave themselves. The boys are greasers, a class term that refers to the young men on the East Side, the poor side of town. The greasers' rivals are the Socs, short for Socials, who are the "West-side rich kids."
