Human trafficking is not just a part of our history; it is continuously growing around the world today because of traffickers who are using it as an easy way to make a profit. Victims of human trafficking feel as if they have no way to escape because they have limited ways to survive or make a good enough living to support themselves along with their families outside of the sex industry. Women, children and even men are taken from time to time before they get the opportunity to receive little if any education, at all. Therefore, many who could’ve gotten out of the sex industry chose to stay out of fear of returning back home years later only to be discriminated against by their own families and communities, knowing getting a job would be nearly impossible due to the lack of education along with not being able to marry. How could so many generations pass down and so many still be unaware of the horrid occurrences that are possibly happening right in front of us? Despite many estimates found on the web, there are currently no official numbers on the victims who are trafficked into the United Kingdom each year because not all cases are reported, many have and will remain unknown.
Human trafficking is a highly profitable and quick route to wealth and power, now ranking alongside of drugs and weapon trafficking as the largest criminal activities. Vulnerable people, usually those who are in severe poverty, are ultimately lied to which lead them into working abroad with the promise of a better life. 75% of women involved in prostitution cite poverty as the primary motivator for entering the sex industry. In conclusion, human trafficking is not only a part of our history; it is continuously growing around the world today because traffickers are using it as an easy way to make a profit as poverty continues to worsen. Human trafficking is a highly profitable route to wealth and power, now ranking alongside drugs and weapon trafficking as the largest criminal activities. Although, there are people in the world today who believe it should be legalized while others are completely opposite, which are the ones who believe the punishment should be worse than it currently is when you’re convicted of a trafficking offence.
