After taking the OB, I would politely disagree with the first part of my friend’s statement suggesting that OB courses are not useful in the real world. However, I do agree with her saying that OB would be helpful for people entering managerial roles. I feel OB can be very beneficial to almost anyone in the real world because of concepts such as personality and perception will help people understand themselves better. Then I believe OB is one of the critical tools for today's managers work environment. Some important OB concepts such as motivation, diversity, organizational justice, and ethics are necessary for managers to gain an understanding and to benefit the workplace. A person or manager trained and knowledgeable in OB has the utmost advantage in being successful.
To start off, I would tell my friend how the OB course have been useful for own personal development. The topic of personality in OB was very important in how I understand myself. I firmly believe that effective individuals know themselves. They examine their patterns of behavior to better understand their thoughts and emotions. Truly effective individuals make an effort to know themselves well so they can predict their behavior. Self-examination allows effective individuals to be in a position to reinforce their positive behaviors and identify and work on the negative ones. Studying personalities gave me a better sense of who I really am and how I am able to convey those personalities to interact with others.
Next, I would tell her about how important it is for a person to understand perception. Perception of tricky to deal with, I am constantly making all the perceptual errors. I noticed that I tend to blame my mistakes on the external factors and not mysel...

...plying OB concepts. If management are able to develop an understanding of what motivates employees to learn, train and perform optimally as individuals through the use of OB concepts then management will enhance not only their own success but also their employees.
In conclusion, I would reiterate that OB is very important for anyone to know. There are a lot of useful information within OB for people to apply to their lives. OB can help an individual in the skills of communicating well, listening well, and interacting well. Then for management, OB provides the necessary tools to help understand the different types of people within the company and the possible ways in dealing with the employees. If management can understand OB and the interconnectedness between the workers, the company, the product, and the consumer then his or her company will be more successful.
Applying concepts of organizational behavior to actual organizations helps managers to learn about its various theories. Four theories of interest that warrant additional consideration include organizational learning, personalities, work motivation
These disiplies are important in establishing a learning organization because in a growing environment, it is important to provide “creative thought process” feel. Concepts, ideas, and solutions should be discussed and available to everyone. Learning organizations set us free. Employees are allowed to express their ideas and challenges which contribute to a more efficient work environment. A learning work environment that incorporates these 5 disciplines can create the desired results where people and the organization will be equally
Another point is the use of motivational techniques to train and develop employees, which is mentioned above.
Organizational skills are one of the most important transferable job skills a worker can possess.
Over the course of this class I have pieced together many things about my own life that before went unnoticed. I am now able to see things in a bit of a different light. Now that I have been introduced to the realm of psychology I understand some of the reasons for behavior around me. I have learned that there is a reason for most everything and a lot of our behaviors and mental processes can be explained through psychology. Studies have been conducted for many years to try and pinpoint the source of our behavior and it is not something that most people think about every day. Having a better understanding of why we operate the way we do will help me to better understand myself and the others around me.
One of the most important ways in which this class provided a beneficial learning experience is the fact that as a student it gave me the opportunity to broaden my knowledge by being able to properly do research, document that information, As wells as bringing my message in an informative, answer-driven format by broadening my communicational skills.
When I enrolled in this class, I thought it would be the easiest class I would ever take; I thought wrong. In my head, I imagined OBU Connections would take place outside and we would have picnics, talk about ourselves, and even go to the teacher’s house for dinner occasionally. However, we sat in a regular classroom, read a book, and listened to podcasts. Fortunately, I still learned a lot during the two hours I spent per week in the class. I learned to expect the unexpected, to become more open minded about every situation, and to be better prepared for everything.
A short interview was also conducted with Ms Tay Chin Chin, module leader of Organisational Behaviour. The interview assisted in the decision of appropriate training methods to use and also feedback was collected on areas where trainers may have overlooked in previous OB workshops.
Employees understand they need to grow, learn and develop new skills in order to advance. The ability to be able to choose their assignments and rise to new challenges offered by new responsibilities.
I understand my styles and behaviors better now. Too bad I didn’t take this course earlier in life. Understanding myself will help me understand other people better I believe. That will be helpful concidering the profession I intend to have.

Operations management is the central core function of every company this is true with small and large or for profit or not for profit. Every company has an operations management functions. Actually all the other organizational functions are there primarily to support the operations functions without operations there would be no goods or services to sell. Operations management is a management function. It involves managing people, equipment, technology, information and many other resources. The role of operations management is to transform a company’s inputs into finished products it include human resources, such as workers and managers facilities and processes materials technology and information, Sim S, M Barry, R Clift, SJ Cowell (2007). For operations management to be successful it must add value during transformation process. Efficiency means being able to perform activities well and at the lowest possible cost. An important role of operations is to analyze all activities, eliminate those that do not add value and restructure processes and jobs to achieve greater efficiency. Because today’s business environment is more competitive than ever, the role of operations management has become the focal point of efforts to increase competitiveness by improving value added and efficiency. Applying best practices to operations management is not enough to give a company a competitive advantage, Glaser B (2002). This requires to have a deep knowledge of their customers and to be able to anticipate their demands. The development of customer relationship management has made it possible for companies to have this detailed knowledge. Another characteristic of today’s environment is the increased use of cross functional decis...
Employees upon their induction into an organization that is vigilant about their corporation’s success is very altruistic in nature to their employees; with the hope that their efforts will be rewarded with enthusiasm, competency, and major attributions for company progress or success. Henceforth, as it stands depending upon the capacity upon which an individual or group of people are recruited, there levels of training will be meted by the type of tasks they are required to accomplish for the organization in a successful and ethical manner. Gomez argues that, “leaders within her organization of occupancy held conversations on various matter that pertained to company success for future employees, and public citizens” (Gomez, 2012, pg. 13). The aim is to candidly express what an organization desires to accomplish and just how exactly they intend to achieve such an outcome. The training and performance evaluations by organizations are intended to maximize each employee to the standard requirements of the recruiting companies.
Industrial- Organizational Psychology also referred to as I/O is the scientific study of human behavior within organizations (American Psychological Association, n.d). A few areas that I/O psychology seeks to address include recruiting, training and development, performance measures, motivation, rewards, human factors, as well as organizational development and consumer behavior (American Psychological Association, n.d). I/O psychology seeks to focus on human behavior specifically in the workplace setting.
Organizational Behavior Management (OBM) is a vital part of the success of a company. It analyzes the psychological side of employee’s thoughts and actions even considering culture. This idea allows managers to improve not only individual behavior but also group dynamic performances/interactions and workers safety. This theory is considered as a science of the behavior of each employee. The history of OBM started in the 1900’s, with the strong influence of Skinner and Watson. In the workplace, the applications of behavioral principles to instructional design were the beginning for the use of science of behavior. Frederick Taylor, another innovative manager was a huge supporter of the scientific method being presented and utilized. Three main
