The changes the director produced made a much more dramatic plot to the movie, although the short story had diverse details, they were both entertaining. The story and the movie are different in their own way, but they have the same plot. They both have many details that benefit both in many different ways. The movie and short story are both amazing, intriguing, and interesting. There are many differences between the movie and the short story of “The Most Dangerous Game”. In the beginning of the story, Rainsford fell off the boat reaching for his pipe. Rainsford heard three gunshots and a terrifying scream while he was in the water. He swam towards the sounds which led him to an island. In the beginning of the movie, the ship wrecked. There was a huge explosion that threw Rainsford off the ship into shark infested waters. All the passengers on the ship were eaten by sharks and Rainsford was the only survivor. He kept swimming till he reached an island. There are multiple changes throughout the movie and story. In the short story, there were no female characters. The director added a female to the movie to add more of a mystery and a romance. Rainsford was alone when he was being hunted by Zaroff in the story. In the movie, Rainsford and the girl were both being hunted, and he tried protecting her throughout the movie. Rainsford’s character was more passionate and brave in the movie because he had to protect the girl. His character in the story was fierce, because he only had to worry about himself.
