Thesis: The Mongol invaders left a legacy of disruption and destruction because of their children being bred for war, superior military equipment, the use of advanced military tactics, and the fear that spread by rumors of the atrocities they committed. The Mongols were so well organized that they had a flag communication system in battle, which was used to rally more support or to let the others know to fall back (Marshall, pg. 93). 3. The Mongols were well known to lure out their enemies by using mangudai who were suicidal troops that would charge towards the enemies and retreat back to the Mongol army while the enemy was in pursuit, which many leaders fell for including the King of Hungary, Béla IV (Marshall, pg. 93 and 116). a. Along with luring out their enemies the Mongols would pillage and burn nearby civilizations to prevent the possibility of their main enemy from receiving support (Jackson, pg. 68). b. The Mongols also took slaves from these Kingdoms they burned and pillaged and would slaughter the rest of the people if they had no use for them, which would create fear among the other kingdoms (Jackson, pg. 69). 4.
