As Captain John Parker once said “Stand your ground. Don’t fire unless fired upon but if they mean to have war let it begin here.” At the Battle of Lexington and Concord. He said this because they were outnumbered by the Redcoats. The American revolution had many causes. Three of the main causes of the American Revolution were all the different acts, the First Continental Congress and the Battle of Lexington and Concord. The most important reason were all the different acts or taxes that were placed on the Colonists. One of the acts was the Stamp Act this taxed all papered good or goods with a paper packaging. This included newspaper, books, legal documents, ships cargo lists, playing cards and dice. The Stamp act was placed because Britain needed money for the French and Indian war. The Colonists boycotted and fought back by burning an effigy. The Stamp Act was repealed in March of 1766. The Townshend act placed a tax on lead, glass, paint, and tea. These taxes were placed because they wanted to show their power over the colonies. The Colonists boycotted. They met from September 4, 1774 to October 26, 1774. They met to respond to the Boston Tea Party and the Intolerable Acts. Two acts that they rejected were the Coercive act and the Quebec act. The meeting was formed by colonists to fight against British tyranny. There were 56 representatives from 12 out of the 13 colonies Georgia was the one colonie that wasn’t apart of it and they met at Philadelphia’s Carpenters Hall.
