Leaning is detrimental in today’s world. There are many ways to view the action “learning”. Some people may say that learning is “any relatively permanent change in behavior brought about by experience or practice” (psych book page 176). If we view learning through this definition, Alvin Toffler’s quote about the literate being those who can “learn, unlearn, and relearn” would be a great place to begin discussion. My ability to learn will allow me not only to survive, but also to thrive and lead others in my life and career.
An individual does not learn by reading and writing. That person must take action with what they have read. A reader who reads a book from the Harry Potter series might be the same as a person reading a work of Shakespeare’s if the two do nothing with what they have read. Mark Twain simplifies this idea “A person who won’t read has no advantage over one who can’t read”. We must be able to learn from everything we do. In this, Toffler reminds us that those who cannot learn are illiterate.
Improvements are constantly being made to every aspect of everyday life...
