Oh the many aspects of this movie, from the camera angles to the acting. The Godfather Part II directed by Francis Ford Coppola, It resides in the same category as Goodfellas and Heat. The movie Goodfellas is so spectacular due to the fact that it demonstrates how life in the mafia actually was and not some sugar coated film version of the mob, nevertheless, it sets so many standards for movies to come. With Heat it shows how a broken man can save his family. In The Godfather Part II they manage to show the lighter and darker side of the mob through camera and lighting.

One particular scene that sticks out is the scene where Michael and his wife were sleeping in bed than some gunman come and try to shoot them up. At one point in this scene the camera shifts from a high angle shot of Michael and his wife in bed to a ground level shot of the two of them with Michael covering his wife to protect her, this indicates that even though their marriage is under strain somewhat, he still loves her. The dead silence that follows shows that the scene, is still tense and that they are still on edge. Also in this scene it shows how right after it happens, Michael rushes outside and demands Rocco keep his family alive, regardless of the cost. …show more content…
