“The French Revolution taught us the rights of man.” (Thomas Sankara). The French Revolution started in 1789 becoming one of the greatest events in history. French citizens were inspired by the Enlightenment and decided to rise up against their government. There were many bloody battles throughout this event that are remarkable. This Revolution was also inspired by the American Revolution. The French Revolution became a highly influential, and well known turning point in French history through the storming of the Bastille, execution of King Louis XVI, and the rise of Napoleon Buonaparte. Napoleon was born in Corsica in 1769, Italy, soon became part of France after taking it over. His father was an Italian Lawyer and his family originate from the Florentine nobility. He went to a military school as a kid and soon he rose quickly through the ranks. “Throughout the rest of his life, these qualities, combined with his keen intelligence, ease with words, and supreme confidence in himself, enabled Napoleon to influence people and win their firm support.” Napoleon saw himself as a great leader and these gave him the confidence to lead France. He was also a great general and with his amazing work people were convinced that he could make France a better place. The French people desperate to find a leader accepted Napoleon as their leader. Soon this leader would make France as big as ever has
