Anxiety which is a state of uneasiness and tension caused by the ego and being unable to solve (Early, 2017). Social anxiety is a subcategory of anxiety, to define social anxiety is to state that a person has a fear of social situations. Social anxiety disorder is also known as social phobia, which is the third largest mental health care problem in the world today. Individuals have a hard time interacting with other people. For some, people social anxiety is the anxiety of being judged negatively, and being analyzed negatively by other people. Social anxiety is an extensive disorder which causes anxiety and fear in many to all areas of a person’s life. This disorder is considered chronic because it does not go away on its own. People with social anxiety disorder may also experience avoiding normal social situations. When having social anxiety in some common everyday experiences may be hard for instance: using public restrooms, eating in front of people, going to work or school, and making eye contact (Goldberg & Thase, 2013). Antianxiety medication also referred to as Anxiolytic drugs are used for social anxiety. The drugs that the patients would use are: Valium, Ativan, Tranxene, Klonopin, Xanax, Dalmane, Restoril, Halcion, these medications are under the classification of Benzodiazepines. Benzodiazepines are a class of psychoactive drugs that treats a range of conditions. With the Benzodiazepines, the possible side effects an individual can experience are as follows: Addiction, a possibility of dizziness, problems of memory, and sleepiness. Also, two other drugs that are used in social anxiety are Atarax and Buspar, these two drugs are under an unknown class.
