It doesn’t consume more time. The strength of SWOT analysis is that you can understand your business and find strengths and weaknesses of business and use it to improve your business and develop strategies to counters the weaknesses.
The weakness of SWOT analysis is that by it we cannot determine some factors which are both strength and opportunities, to find that you have to research in deep. It doesn’t tell you which factors are important and it doesn’t gives solutions or any alternative for weaknesses or threats. You can get lots of ideas from it but it doesn’t tell you which one is best for you.

Pest analysis means analysis of four factors Political, Economical, Social and Technological. It is use to understand the external factors which can affect the business. In political we analyse the rules and regulations of the country and location and the stability of the government so we can know the political factors which can affect our business like employment laws, taxguidelines,and safety regulations. In economical factors we analyse the issues which can affect our business like change in taxation, interest rates, inflation.
