So, the Dead Poets Society was about an English Teacher at the Welton Academy for Boys who was trying new methods of teaching so he will be able to actually get through to the boys. The boys are also under a lot of pressure by their parents and the rest of the members of the school. The problem with Mr. Keating (the English Teacher) was that his method of teaching is very different from how the school has been doing things in the last decades. Mr. Keating has been teaching the boys that they need to pursue their dreams and believe in romanticism. This leads to a path of destruction for Mr. Keating. keating was seeing this. He would tell the boys to think freely and bring their stories to life. He didn 't want to teach these boys to be robots. The school board didn 't like this at all. As soon as Neil died they put the blame on Mr keating but he was actually the one who taught the class to be rambunctious and to look at life from a whole new angle. He taught the boys to live THEIR lives the way THEY want to, not how their PARENTS want them to. I think that he actually starts to admire and idolize Mr. Keating because he can do all of the things Todd can not. Mr. Keating encourages behvior that he never thought he would even be able to talk about. So Todd begins to build more confidence and stand up for himself. When Todd found out about Neil, I think that it was kind of his last straw. He was sick of just being a push over and not being able to stand up for what he beleives in or for what he wants to do. He is also sick of having to try and wals in his brothers shoes. His parents rub it in his face that his brother was this AMAZING person an he could never be as great as him. I think that he is just sick of it and he sees Mr. Keating as his only REAL relationship because he hasnt tried to push him into doing things. So thats why he stoon up for mr.
